No thanks,
I will spend my money in Florida & at the motoplex. If everyone keeps going out of state to ride then we will never have more great places like the Plex in Florida. D-town does have some great things, but a few months ago the owner put out an email blasting quadriders. I am sure he had his reasons.
Also heard a story where a guy (on here) crashed bad & was stuck in the trees & the D-town guy said he would have to pay $20 to get a tow back to his camp. From what i was told he had just arrived for his trip & within hours his quad was useless. He paid all fees up front & they wanted $20 to tow him from the track to his camp site? Huh
I am sure you all will have a blast there & one day i may go there as well as Carolina Adventure world but for now its the Plex for me. If the plex gets more & more support, it will grow to be the size of D-Town one day. However I am looking forward to one day going to Glamis!!!

SEEMS LIKE THESE STORIES NEVER END!!!  Me and my family and friends have been going to d-town for 5 years never had a bad experience, never had a problem with being on a quad??? wonder why he mad a mud pit last year; for motorcycles??? Wonder why he rents quads (UTES!!)Huh Wonder why he rents (Side by side!) Wink Keep your money in Florida thats great by the way thats what I do 90% of the time..Oh yeah, my experiences and my thoughts are mine about D-town not second hand and third hand info from the internet so you can take those to the bank...For the money it will cost to go to Glamis you should put into the Motoplex coffers...help it grow.

Hey Green, spreading rumors and not facts doesn't help ATV enthusiasts. And, where were all those loving ATVers when that person needed a tow? DP should provide their services for free? How long would that last? Besides, is buying/promoting Husqvarna, Gravely & Shindaiwa Lawn Equipment keeping your money in Florida? Just asking, I have no idea. Smiley

Here we go    Shocked

Lets all remember that we enjoy riding atvs no matter where that is.  All you ever hear on these forums is "I am selling my quad because there's no where to ride" or "Why are they closing every thing down".  My opinion is that Motoplex and their owners went WAY OUT OF THEIR WAY to keep atvs from going extinct in Florida.  Yes eventually (MANY YEARS FROM NOW) they will make money from their investment but how many of us could do this for the community?  We should all try to visit Motoplex and support them and at the same time what does it hurt to go to Durhamtown once or twice a year?

I will be out the Motoplex this weekend (my first time) and then go to Durhamtown at least once during the year.

Actually yes, because our business is in Tampa, FL. Selling & servicing this stuff feeds my family and those of my employees & YES they all live in Florida. The things I said are NOT rumors they are fact. Ask Honda 328i about the wrecked quad deal & I will search for the email about the owner bashing quads & post if I can figure out how.

Since you ATV riders who so proudly standup & support this guy, I highlighted a few words in the owners post for you geniuses to figure out what he means.

SINGLE TRACK is for dirtbikes ONLY!!!!! What is the big deal? I guess you are gonna enjoy spending your time watching the dirtbikes on the new trails? Huh I assumed you rode an atv by your screen name.
At least the Plex makes ALL trails for everyone, there is no "divide & conquer" attitude there, thats all I am saying. I feel like I am part of a family there as does everyone who comes away from there after the 1st visit. At D-Town you are just a customer!
Go to D-Towns forums, the owner is a dirtbiker & he caters to them. D-Town forum used to have its own ATV section, it was deleted a year or so ago & after everyone complained it was brought back as the "dirtbike & atv" section together.
Search it man, its all over the web about the guys attitude. He isnt a stupid business man thats why he still rents quads, anyone can ride a quad he rents, not anyone can ride a dirtbike. He wont cut quads out because it will cost him half his business. But from what you can read, his opinion of quads is low because of the "destruction they cause to the trails & the extra cost of maintenance he has to provide afterwards"

To each their own, I remember when the ralley was happeneing, everyone on here was complaining about losing places to ride in FLORIDA, now someone in FLORIDA steps up to the plate & makes a place smaller but similiar to D-Town & no one on here that was running theyre mouths will support it? I know Paul wants to make more motoplexes possibly in Central Florida, but it wont happen without support.
I challenge you D-Town guys to go for a weekend to D-town & comeback on here & tell me how many people you met & actually remember theyre names.
When i went to the plex for the first time, I met dozens of people who I now consider a friend. That is the difference.
I hope you all have an enjoyable, safe ride at D-Town.

Well  GREEN, it just so happens that two of the families that we are going to ride with we met up there a few years back, and have been friends with them since and each time we go to D-town we get with them and plan the trip together  Grin!!! Look the Motoplex is a great thing for N. florida i hope its a trend  Smiley...but for now when i take a vaction i would rather have a toilet to crap in and not a hot azz por-ta-let or the woods....a cabin not a tent.....my own shower not public bathrooms or a water tanker truck to stand under!! a cafateria with real food (breakfast, lunch & dinner)....100 of miles of trails and not a few miles??? You can go to d-town for 3 -4 days and not really see the same trails often...after 4 hours you can do the plex 4 times!!!!! not much of a vacation there!!! I bet you my quad against yours that you cant do that on a quad, maybe an airplane.
The other stuff you say makes it nice there for an extended stay as well, but lets stay ON TOPIC about how great D-Town is for making all these new awesome trails, I must have pointed something out you missed.
Otherwise why post that D-Town is making all these great trails for DIRTBIKES ONLY on this forum?
As I said before, i hope you have an enjoyable, safe ride at D-Town.
Enjoy the rest of your day bashing me for my opinion & facts about your post. Sorry I ruined your expectations of the great trails to come. Just buy a d/b & you can enjoy those trails too.

+1 i have been to DP many times and yes it is fun to ride. But it is very easy to tell that it is set up for 2 wheelers and if you cant see that you need to clean your goggles or open your eyes. I remember when dirt wheels did a write up they had to go back and change their statement of over 100 miles of trails to enjoy on a quad or dirt bike because 30-40 miles of those were single track trails. How about the dirtbike only mx track. or how about the response i got from the owner of "we dont spend alot of time fixing the swamp MX b/c the 4 wheelers will just tear it up"

I think both the MP and DP are great places to ride and yes DP is bigger, anyone can see that. I commend Paul for putting HIS wallet on the line to open a place for people to come and RIDE. unfortunately some people still just like to Bi+<H about things.

I would love to see you ride all of the trails around MP 4 times in 4 hours. If you can your a bigger man than me. But if it take you 3-4 days to ride all the trails in DP im gona guess you cant. ME and a friend rode all of the trails that quads are allowed on and some their not in 2 days. And even then we rode on the same trail more than once.

Again I enjoy DP and MP and i will still visit them both. But due to the distance and the entry fee you can bet i will be at the MP more than i will be at DP

Just my 2 cents ... wel it was more like a quarter but o well

Before we can compare D-town with the plex we need to take into consideration a well established riding facility verse's the Plex in it's infantcy...I agree with both side of the discussion for the support of the plex and that our family has never had an issue at Durhamtown between dirtbikes and quads that you dont see at any other race track...There is discrimination with everything that we do

I posed the question this morning to Mike himself at D-Town here is my question and his response:

Mike a Question for you??
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 Mike,
My family and friends have been to D-Town many times over the last 5 years and have really enjoyed your establishment. we come up from Fl. some times twice a year. I would like to ask you a question here as to satisfy my own curiosity and be able to squash rumors once and for all that always seem to come up about You and Durhamtown. Let me say first of all my family and friends are all utillity quad riders. So here it is...what is your feelings towards the utillity quad owners and them coming to D-town to ride the trails...it is said that you have a very dim view of the utllities and would rather not see them at D-town but that they are a nesessary evil!! That they cause undue wear and tear to the trails and we are the ones of most of your problems. I must reinterate that i am a loyal D-town customer and have really enjoyed your establishment and as a matter of fact am taking vaction there in early april. I would really apprecitae your views on this matter. Thanks Todd

Hey Todd

good question

I have had many problems in the past with utility atvs going off of the trails onto neighbors property and destroying it riding up or down the river we often find areas where atvs have traveled off of the trails and began new hill climbs in sensitive areas

we are finding many of our bike only trails are being bulldozered by large utulity atvs pushing over trees to get thru them

I am not against any atv or bike just the people who do not obey the rules bike or atv speeding drinking or not staying on the trails

in the past we have had more problems with the utility atvs and I have voiced my opinions openly

another problem finding a atv or quad sitting in the middle of the trails in a small puddle and will not leave it until it is a waller it makes a problem for everyone riding and maintaince

we have asked many to leave the property and not return for being disrespectful bikes and atvs many that were asked to leave have spread rumours that I do not like any atvs

this is not so

only the people on the atv who are disrespectful

I think this is the same problem with all riding areas that have miixed riders some facilities are designed for utilities atvs with lots of mud pits and ruts but you will not find many bikers there

in order to survive financilly you must cater to all riders and all ages so everyone must respect each others ridng desires

we have mud areas to play in we only ask that you only DIG there we have plenty of water now

I hope this clears any rumours

just ask anytime

thanks mike

I've been to Durhamtown 3 times in a little over a year. Cat, Mike and all the people up there have treated us very well. We ride ute's and have never been messed with at all. Of course like Mike quoted, if you do things against the rules you'll be asked to leave. That's just common sense not to go off the trails and stuff. D-Town is a great place and I enjoy taking the family up there and enjoying the trails.

That was an excellent response from a business owner who was responding to a utility quad owner who just told him he spends tons of money there and has plans to go there in April.
I would respect his answer more if he had no idea you had ever been there, had no atv & didnt already have your vacation planned there. You basically told him in your question what you expected to hear from him & he obliged you.

Bottom line is the quads probably represent 60+% of his income so why isnt this huge renovation aimed at quads also? Why dont you ask him that?

I dont have a problem with you or anyone going there, like I said b4, have a safe & enjoyable vacation there. I just read between the lines about the "Renovations".

I personally will do all I can to help the MP to get to where DP is and one day it will happen. I also know one day my family & I will ride DP, but with diesel at $3.50 gal I am staying on the southside of the stateline as much as possible.

honesty & integrity is how I roll..all I can do is hope he does the same? And from reading his response i can only surmise that he does as well?

according to your post you have never been to d.t. how can you set here and bash some where you have never been. motoplex is great from what i have heard.but i have never been there either seen pictures it looks fun dreth and mike worked hard to create it and it looks like it paid off. and i hope they are successful with making grow for fl , ga  and everywhere else that wants to enjoy it. now as far as riding the terrain of d.t. is better than fl anyday. as far as riding 200 acres in for hours I can do that easy we cover several hundred acres in 2 hrs at a quadscramble. needless to say i could set here about this all night but it wouldnt help.so until you got to durhamtown and ride meet mike you will change your mind unless you dont like to ride....as far as dirt bike only trails I am all tor it. keeps less dirt bikes off my trails and there are plenty of trails I can ride.

Have you ever been to the Motoplex? Because your description is a little bit off actually a lot bit off. I have been to both places and the MP has the most friendly atmsophere of any riding area I have ever been to! I have been on 3 trips to DP and enjoyed 2 of the 3 (I was sick soon after getting there 1 time) . I can tell you this I met Mike he gladly took my money and I never saw him again. Paul the owner of the MP gets involved with everything he goes riding with the Ute guys then goes dragracing the sport guys ,leads night rides, he has brought in food many times . Did I mention you can ride 24 hrs a day on event weekends? Only 1 escorted night ride happens at DP if there is enough intrest oh and by the way that ride cost extra. Port O Lets are the main restrooms available, but if I remember correctly that is what you find at DP. At night you can pooh in the cabin well guess what you can stay at any 1 of 3 Hotels located within 5 minutes of the plex for less than a cabin at DP. Don't knock MP till you try it exspecially on an event weekend! In fact I met GreenMachine at the 3 event ride and he is an awesome person as are the rest of the people I met there.
Thats my 1.25$

Mikes establishment at the present time is SOMEWHAT larger to say the least than the MotoPlex (not only does he have everything the plex has) but also hunting, fishing, over 8000 acres, horses I could go on and on....oh yeah don't forget he is the biggest employeer in his county over 120 people...I'm guessing here but if you to a trip to Carolina auto world you would even no that owner! I guess like you said you never talked to mike other than giving him your money, b ut i can tell you from my experience we have bs'd with mike eatin with him in the cafateria etc. evry visit weve made

Did I mention you can ride 24 hrs a day on event weekends?

That's great and I hope it keeps up..lets see what happens if the Motoplex grows big enough and stays open 7 days a week all year round and Paul and the rest of the owners want a life of there own...right now the plex is open on weekends 24 hours a day is easy Wink

Don't knock MP till you try it

That's exactly my point to Green on Durhamtown

In fact I met GreenMachine at the 3 event ride and he is an awesome person as are the rest of the people I met there.
Thats my 1.25$

I'm sure Green is a great guy and maybe one day I'll meet him at the plex...as I've said before our best riding buddies are a family we met up at Durhamtown 3 or 4 years ago and we still ride with them yearly...and the rest of the people we've met at DP are awesome people

look as Tony and I have said I am not bashing the Plex he (Green) is bashing Durhamtown and never been there...I fully support the plex 100% and it owners for doing something about our situation here in Fl. But green is the one that hijacked this thread and bashed DP and talked up the Plex...

That's my Dollar twenty five  Kiss

All are good to ride so nice to have place to go... Durhamtown went in July was OK place to ride but TOOOOOO many going at full speed everywhere with no regards to others on the trails.  I understand excitement etc have fun but safety counts also.  I would really hate to go there on really busy day...rather I know we're not going back on busy weekends

Alright, kiddies.  Not one of you has seen the issue for what it is.  Let me ask you this question: How many of you ride the quad scrambles or are familiar with one of the most basic rules?  The rule I speak of is maximum width of the quad; 50 inches.  That 50 inch limit doesn't guarantee there will be a 50 inch opening on the course.  This is to make it challenging for those who run XC.  Dirtbikes have been around waaaaaaayyy longer than quads and there are a lot more of them than there are quads (if you don't believe that, check the statistic with FTR where sometimes 2,000 dirtbikes show up for an event versus 150 quads).  How challenging do you think it would be to ride a XC track that is 50 inches wide on a dirtbike?  That is the reason for dirtbike only trails.  The dirtbike XC riders enjoy the challenge of XC riding as much as a quad rider does and Mike is smart enough to know the numbers.  So get off your little soapbox, stop your pathetic whining and appreciate the fact that there are people that are providing excellent riding opportunities for everybody that enjoys off-road sports.

Happy Monday everyone Cheesy

My last post here since I actually dont spend my weekend on the internet.

To me bashing is posting lies or fabrications.

I never bashed D-Town, I posted facts. Some of you didnt like the facts & it somehow turned into "green bashing d-town hijack". Maybe I am wrong in my view of what bashing is, who knows. I was clear more than once that I will go to D-Town one day & I am sure I will enjoy it.
However, the things I posted are facts.
When some of you guys get a chance, spend a little time on Georgia Offroad.com, that is where I saw the cut & pasted email from Mike about quads. It was in their forum just like the one cut & pasted by canamgator.
Now lets get back to quad talk & be friends Grin

I figured this is where you got your info???

Happy Monday everyone Cheesy

spend a little time on Georgia Offroad.com, that is where I saw the cut & pasted email from Mike about quads.

here's another cut and paste for ya!  Wink "Taken from Ga. Off Road"

we do have strict rules here at dp and we do enforce them for the safety of all we have evicted over 200 who also like to do most of the talking on the forums....
This is where your factual information is coming from by the way!!! Wink

Dp has always been atv friendly just not to those who abuse it
and they have bashed DP on many forums across the nation
During all of the Bashing 4 different publications and tv shows came here to do a personal interview/ investigation also several other future atv riding parks came here to check it out some continued some stopped all plans

what they all found is DP is approx 50% atvs and 50% bikes average 700-1400/week more on holidays we have made some major investments to keep our trails maintained and hired more employees to keep them up we have added 3 new trails in the past 10 days more will be added over the next few weeks

DP is a family oriented facility not just for mudders all have to ride

we built new trails for the families and yes we left the rutted out trails for the mudders and we welcome them in the proper places not on trashing the family trails we even have the largest inventory of atv tires sport and utility in the southeast and a new tire center

we just completed today a 50% track rebuild on the atv mx track and will re do the other 50% after the 4th weekend maybe before

if you are from florida try posting on some of the local forums asking people who have been here what their opinions are

in the last 2 weeks 4 clubs of the FTR have had their yearly vacations to DP the largest one is coming july 4 weekend over 300 FTR guys in 3 weeks atvs and bikes

if it was as bad as you may think it is the publications should be writing about the terrible place we were

10% make 90% of the waves

best way to make your own opinion is to come visit and if you are not pleased in the 1st 24 hours I will refund your ride fees

thanks mike DP owner

Now lets get back to quad talk & be friends  Kiss  AGREED

No thanks,
I will spend my money in Florida & at the motoplex.

Can someone please show me in the above post where Greenmachine bashed DP. I see where he said "no thanks" to the trail renovations but that was not a bash. I see where he stated that he would rather spend his money in a florida owned park to help it grow. I see where he made a statement about the owner bashing quad riders which was proven by Can-AmGator in the email to Mike. I see where he stated about the $20 tow bill required by DP which is a fact........just call DP and ask! I see where he stated that you will have a good time there and that he will visit one day him self but for now he will support the MotoPlex.
NO WHERE DID HE BASH DURHAMTOWN.

i MYSELF have been to Durhamtown 6 times. I had some great times there,Thanks Mike. But right now we have the opportunity to support the Motoplex and help it grow. If the support rolls in the plex will soon have cabins, rv hookups, real bathrooms and much more.Even a more southern location once it starts supporting itself. Remember that we are 7 months new. I will ask you, Can AmGator, to enjoy your vacation at Durhamtown and when you get the chance will you please bring the family out to one of our Feature Weekends.

Has anyone seen the new show on CMT "Gone Country".
Dee Snyder from Twisted Sister is on there. What a clown.
On the next episode, Bobby Brown looks like he is gonna puch Dee in the mouth on stage. I hope he does!

Durhamtown rocks!!

Motoplex rocks!!

Hatfield & McCoy rocks!!

There's less & less land available for us to ride.  So!....ANY place you can go ride your ATV, UTV, Motorcycle....ROCKS!

No place is perfect!  If there's a concern/issue...go to the peeps' in charge and let them know.  Chances are they will try to better the situation.

'Nuff said!   Grin
