how can you tell the difference between an 04 and an 05 motor? does the numbers on the motor mean anything? I think the yfz that my friend bought is an 05 frame with an 04 motor and stuff on it. it has the steel brake pedal and shifter. but I cant figure out the motor. any help would be great thanks.

check on the front right side of the head to see if there is a plug there thats removable or if there is a decompression there if so its a 04 engine if there is nothing there then 05 up engine take a picture of it if you are not sure still and post it up if I get time later I have some 04 heads and 05-06 heads on the shelf in the shop I will take a pic of them and post them up so you can see the difference
