Trying Not to Offend Anyone and Failing

Former NFL coach Bill Parcells has agreed to a four-year deal proposed by owner Wayne Huizenga to make him the team's head of football operations, a source has told The Miami Herald.

Huizenga was at the Dolphins' training facility for approximately one hour, from 4:45 p.m. to just before 6 p.m., where he met with Cam Cameron in the coach's office. The futures of both Cameron and general manager Randy Mueller are currently unknown.

The negotiations have been on-going between Parcells' agent, Jimmy Sexton, and Miami owner Wayne Huizenga throughout the day. The Dolphins are not commenting publicly about the deal.

Although published and Internet reports early Wednesday said Parcells was ready to take an offer from the Atlanta Falcons to become their vice-president in charge of football operations -- a job that would grant him the power to hire a general manager and head coach -- Parcells backed out of that offer later in the day.

''Prior to the information becoming public, we reached agreement in principle with Bill,'' Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank said in a statement. ``We met this morning to complete the contract. At that time we were made aware that he is considering a revised offer from the Miami Dolphins.

``He later informed us he would not be signing a contract with us.''

An ESPN report stating Parcells had backed out of the deal with Atlanta and was talking to the Dolphins flashed across the multiple plasma TV screens in the Miami locker room while players were between practice and meetings.

''We're going to have a new daddy,'' offensive tackle L.J. Shelton joked.

Defensive tackle Vonnie Holliday sees adding Parcells as a good thing.

''We talk a lot throughout this league and Bill Parcells is one of those names that if he comes in and he's on board, he's a guy that's going to get things going in the right direction,'' Holliday said. ``He's the Big Tuna.''

Jeff Darlington contributed to this report.

this is the best thing they could have done, just look at what he did with the Giants, Jets, Patriots and Cowboys. They all sucked ass before he got there and they all made it to the playoffs and 3 to the superbowl while he took over. time to clean out the house at dolpins  Grin

Yeah the tuna is the master.
He kept Romo on the bench the whole time he was in Dallas in favor of Drew Bledsoe. He is a genious.
Lets look at this, so far he has agreed to coach the Bucs....and backed out last second!
He agreed to go to the Falcons.......and backed out last second!
Now the Phins? Tunas word is dirt IMHO.
He had his heyday with the giants mainly due to Lawrence Taylor snorting cocaine before games & dominating the opposing offense.
He didnt do crap in New England or Dallas. He is a cintrol freak & that dont work nowadays in the NFL. Look at Coughlin & the Giants.
Last time i checked Bill Bellicheat took the Patriots to all the Superbowls & Wade(Bums Son)Phillips is doing it with the Cowboys.
What did the Jets do when Parcells was there....nothing!
The guy is a joke to me, just my opinion. I am glad he bailed on the Bucs, I just hate to see him with the Phins. I am just really glad he isnt the coach!

You couldnt be farther from right. I was born in Broward general hospital, grew up in Ft Lauderdale for the 1st half of my life. My first ever jersey was a #12 Bob Greise. I was in the O.B. when OJ "slasher"Simpson & the Bills kicked our azz in 1977. I am a Phin fan & now after living near Tampa for 20yrs I am a Bucs fan as well since we dont get Dolphin coverage up here. My 2 best teams are the Canes & the Phins! Please tell me what Bill Parcells has done to earn my respect.
HE HASNT WON A PLAYOFF GAME IN OVER 10 YEARS!
HE HATED ROMO IN DALLAS & T.O. ! He didnt bring them there, Jerry Jones did against Parcells wishes!!!
His ego is so big he cant see past it. Like I said, I am just glad he is not the coach!
We will see where it goes. I, like you, hope it goes well. But my expectations are low because he is like a democrat, a flip flopper.......I just had to do that....lol
How can you trust a guy who has said he would sign with 2 NFL teams(Bucs & Falcons) & bailed on them in the last minute?
All I want for Christmas is the Phins to beat the Bellicheaters...err Patriots!!!!

Today's Cowboys are all Parcells' picks, not Philips'! And, Romo and his O-line were not ready.

Since when did Jerry Jones let anyone hold the raines on his team....never. The keys to that teams offense were not Parcells picks. He didnt want them there. You need to check your facts. I sleep & eat football from preseason to the Superbowl. The rest of the year is depressing. You say Romo wasnt ready? why because Tuna said so. Well 6 months after Parcells left, Romo is one of the hottest QB's in football with T.O. & Jason Witten. Parcells coaching sucked, thats what I am saying. Do you really think Romo turned into a superstar in one offseason? Parcells was in love with Bledsoe & he would have ridden Bledsoe until the end no matter what. That was a bad decision no matter how you look at it.
The cowboys are good because they have a good coach. You can put all the talent inthe world on a field & w/o a good coach they will suck.
Look at the BUCS, Tony Dungy was a defensive coordinator, not a head coach. He had assembled a great team because of the GM doing his job with getting draft picks & the team sucking so they always had a high pick.
He was given 6years with a star studded team & could never make the big game.
Bucs bring in Gruden, a good offensive minded coach & BAM, they win the Superbowl. Dungy was hired by the Colts only to help there crappy defense. The offense of the Colts takes care of itself with Manning under center. he is like Marino was, a true field general.
Again, I more than most hope the Phins can get back to the glory days. My favorite player is JT #99. I hate for he & Zach Thomas who are nearing the end of their careers have to be a part of a losing team like this year. I thought Cameron would bring some of the offense from S.D. & the way Ronnie Brown was looking before injury it was happening.
The dolphins season was over in the draft when they took Ted Ginn over Brady Quinn. I almost fell over when I saw that. Then they paid out the azz for Trent Green, what the heII has he ever done? The guy was done thats why KC let him go & decided to start with Damon Huard. That should have said something to the morons in the fron office of the Phins.
