SERIOUSLY THINKING OF BUILDING TRACK!!
«
on:
September 20, 2004, 09:54:39 AM »
RT RACING HAS A SERIOUS OPPORTUNITY OF BUILDING AND OPENING A NEW TRACK! ONE THAT IS GEARED TOWARDS 2-3 DIFFERENT STYLES OF TRACKS- FOR BOTH ATV AND THOSE DARNED 2-WHEEL CONTRAPTIONS!
1. A HIGH SPEED TT TRACK- DONE THE RIGHT WAY!
2. A 300 FT DRAG STRIP
3. A VERY QUAD FRIENDLY MX TRACK.
LOCATION WOULD BE IN BOWLING GREEN(HARDEE CNTY) WHICH IS LOCATED ABOUT 30 MIN S. OF BARTOW ON HWY 17
VERY EASY TO GET TO AND CENTRALLY LOCATED BETWEEN EVERYBODY.
PLEEEEEEASSE GIVE FEEDBACK AND OPINIONS ON THIS! WE NEED TO MAKE ECONOMICALLY FEASIBLE DECISION RATHER QUICKLY!
I PERSONALLY THINK WE COULD EASILY PULL 150 BIKES A RACE WITHOUT EVEN TRYING TO HARD!

just a couple of questions people are curious about. Glad to see you guys in saltsdale. It is a little far for me, but I would still come to watch atleast or help. Let me know if I can help you guys with anything.

IT WOULD PROBABLY BE DAY RACES AT FIRST UNTIL WE COULD GENERATE ENOUGH REVENUE FOR LIGHTS.
MEMBER FEES AND ETC; WOULD PROBABLY BE THE SAME AS EVERYONE ELSE DEPENDING ON THE INITIAL QUALITY OF THE FACILITIES. ONE THING THAT WE HAVE TO ALL REALIZE AS RIDERS AND RACERS IS THAT IT TAKES ALOT OF $ TO RUN A TRACK THE RIGHT WAY! IM TIRED OF MICKEY MOUSE CRAP!
AND IM TIRED OF PEOPLE NOT TAKING QUADS SERIOUSLY AS A MEANS OF RACING EXCITEMENT.
WE WOULD DO ALL THREE EVENTUALLY! NOT JUST ONE.
THE DRAG WOULD BE EASY. THE MX TRACK WOULD BE EASY!
BELIEVE IT OR NOT THE TT TRACK WOULD BE THE HARDEST TO MAINTAIN BECAUSE OF THE TRACK TEXTURE NEEDED TO RUN IT!
WERE GOING TO LOOK AT THE PROPERTY THIS WEEK! HIGH AND DRY NEVER WET!
NEVER TOO HOT! NEVER TOO COLD! NEVER TOO WET! NEVER TO MANY BULLCRAP EXCUSES.

yes it does take alot of money. saltsdale was straight up awesome this month. Everything ran very smooth once we got everyone there and getting ready for october. I can tell you to put on the races in saltsdale it does take some time, especially when you try to to do new stuff. RTR - you call my operation mickey mouse? I thought you enjoyed it? Give me some credit.

HEY SMOKE!
IN NO WAY WAS THAT OPERATION A MICKEY MOUSE OPERATION. I HAD A CRAP LOAD OF FUN. THE ONLY THING MICKEY MOUSE THERE WAS MY INABILITY TO GET OFF THE LINE. YOU GUYS WERE GREAT AND MORE THAN FAIR IN ALOT OF CASES. YOU WERE EVEN GOING TO ALLOW POPS TO RUN AGAIN JUST BECAUSE HIS OLD AZZ COULDNT SEE THE LIGHTS. WE TOTALLY ENJOYED IT. AS A MATTER OF FACT IT WAS MY FIRST DRAG EVER. BY THE WAY, YOU GOT TO ADMIT, THAT 380 WAS STROKIN IT!!!!! JUST GOT LEARN HOW TO GET OUT THE HOLE.
IT RAN SMOOTH. IT WAS FUN. I RECOMMEND THAT ANY BODY WHO LIKES TO DRAG GO THERE. UNFORTUNATELY MY TT BIKE WASNT QUITE SET UP FOR IT. NEXT TIME BROTHER, NEXT TIME!!
BY MICKEY MOUSE, I MEANT PLACES IVE BEEN BEFORE THAT WONT RACE BECAUSE ITS HOT!!! OR BETTER YET BECAUSE THEY WONT MAKE LOTS OF MONEY AND ARE'NT WILLING TO INVEST IN IT TO MAKE IT BETTER. STARTS WITH SAND ENDS WITH MOUNTAIN.

HEY KIRK- SCHEIPSMEIRS PROPERTY IN TORREY OAKS. HES PUSHING ALL THE GROVE THERE. HE ALSO JUST STARTED HIS OWN LANDSCAPE IRRIGATION BUSINESS. HOW CONVENIENT IS THAT. HI AND DRY, PONDS TO PUMP WATER FROM, PLENTY OF PARKING SPACE, GOOD HARD SOLID GROUND! IF WE THINK WE CAN PAY FOR IT AND MAKE A LITTLE MONEY, THEN ITS ON! IT WILL TAKE A WHILE BUT WITHIN 5-6 MONTHS IT COULD BE TOP NOTCH.
HEY CUT- I HAVE A 10 YR OLD AND 5 YR OLD! YOU KNOW THE KIDS WILL BE INCLUDED. BY THE WAY, I SAW YOUR BIKE RUN AFTER YOU GOT THE NOS WORKING!!!!!!!! MIGHT HAVE BEEN A DIFFERENT STORY ON THE DRAG!!!!

"BY MICKEY MOUSE, I MEANT PLACES IVE BEEN BEFORE THAT WONT RACE BECAUSE ITS HOT!!! OR BETTER YET BECAUSE THEY WONT MAKE LOTS OF MONEY AND ARE'NT WILLING TO INVEST IN IT TO MAKE IT BETTER. STARTS WITH SAND ENDS WITH MOUNTAIN. "
Wow, harsh words. I guess we should all go around and bash everyone, without even knowing what is going on. RTR, I can guess what/and who you are, although I am not positive. But, if you are who I think you are, you and yours have received nothing less than FREE & UNCONDITIONAL support from the folks at Sand Mountain. Now that I understand we are "MICKEY MOUSE" in your eyes, which, by the way, is an UNFAIR and completely UNFOUNDED comment, as you have NO IDEA what efforts and lengths we are going through just to be ready by October 3rd, as planned, maybe the folks at Sand Mountain should reconsider.................
We realize we can't make everyone happy ALL the time, but to go around and say we are "MICKEY MOUSE" and chicken shizit or whatever other choice words you care to use is just down right lousy! EVERY single structure on the property was DESTROYED, the track was washed out worse than I have EVER seen and is still holding water. As far as the heat is concerned, you, me and John Q racer out there can handle it, and we can decide what we should or should not do, but, as parents and as responsible adults, sometimes we need to make adjustments and changes to things in EVERYONES best interest, whether everyone agrees with it or not. When running a facility such as this, SAFETY of EVERYONE should be your primary concern, and it is mine.
My final comments to you would be these...
1. BUILD YOUR TRACK, AND BEST OF LUCK TO YOU.
I sincerely wish you the best of luck.
2. IF YOU DON'T LIKE OUR TRACK, DON'T COME! But do NOT get on a forum such as this and bash someone else when you have NO IDEA what is going on behind the scenes. and last...
3. IF YOU THINK MONEY IS WHAT THIS IS ALL ABOUT, THEN MAYBE WE SHOULD CHARGE
EVERYONE
WHO COMES THROUGH THE GATE RACES, RIGHT?
This is my .02

MY words may have seemed a little harsh to you. But there are still a lot of bitter people who invested alot of time and money towards racing at Sand Mountain, just to be turned away. I know of several persons that showed up to race only to find the gates closed with a note to say there will be no more races for the Summer.
You have to understand that with as much time, money, and heart invested in racing by people who love to do it so much, there comes a little bitterness involved. I DO understand the concern for safety of children and other individuals. But if I plan a racing season and implement it, I would probably take those concerns into consideration before doing so. I understand its not a perfect world. And i am darn sure not a perfect person- as you can probably tell from my more than unfair post, i must admit!!!! But we just want to race. It also seems to be a general concensus from most that raced there, which is probably what has fueled my own bitterness.
I APOLOGIZE SINCERELY for the harsh words. But most people feel that the reason for not racing was a money issue. And some people are still upset about setting a series then just postponing it.
AS FOR $- I will be more than happy to pay to race, ride, enter, or whatever. So will all the people we bring with us to race!
I am truly sorry for the loss that you have incurred at your facility, as i have posted many times here on this site. And i am sorry for my harsh words. I am aware what has happened there. But you are correct that i dont know exactly whats going on behind the scenes!!! But neither does anyone else which only leaves us room to speculate and assume.
Whatever you do, please dont take my comments and apply them as ANYONE ELSES opinion. ONLY MINE!!
All i know is that with the 20+ yrs in racing, I have never seen somebody set a series only to cancel it for the reason of being to hot. HURRICAN CHARLEY- UNDERSTANDABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IVE SEEN THE FACILITIES AND I DO UNDERSTAND. Feel free to fill us in, so we dont have to speculate. We just feel that there was no real explanation. Not that you owe it to me, but im not the only one that has complained on this site. I can promise you that.
I will continue to support the track as will my "FAMILY". And i definately recommend it as a place to race.
For what it is worth I APOLOGIZE!

YES! PLEASE BUILD A TRACK!! I HAVE NOT BEEN TO SAND MOUNTAIN BUT I HAVE BEEN WAITING OVER 2 MONTHS TO GO. HOWEVER I DID GET AWESOME EMAIL RESPONCES LETTING ME KNOW WHAT THE DEAL IS WITH THE RACING SITUATION AND THEY SEEM TO BE SUPER FRIENDLY OVER THERE (WHICH IS RARE THESE DAYS) BUT THE 'CANES WERE A PAIN BUT NOW HOPEFULLY THEY WILL BE GONE AND WE CAN GET BACK TO RACING AND RIDING.
ILL RUN IN WHAT EVER YOU BUILT, IT WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE A "COMPLEX" WITH ALL SORTS OF RACING. WE HAVE 7 QUADS IN OUR FAMILY FROM 50-350CC'S SO WERE READY

HEY CUT,
WE REALLY NEED TO PLAN A GROUP THING TO GO OUT THERE AND RACE. WOULD SHOW SUPPORT AND ALSO GET ENOUGH PEOPLE THERE AT ONE TIME TO HAVE A GOOD TURNOUT! I UNDERSTAND THATS THE REASON THEY DONT HOLD TOO MANY RACES FOR QUADS, IS BECAUSE THEY DONT GET ENOUGH TO MAKE IT WORTH WHILE!

Hendry County Speedway is 4-sale. There is some land with a 3/8's roundy round track.

someone say drag race track? count me in. I WILL BE GLAD TO COME AND RACE . RTR YOU SAID THE RACES WILL START OUT RUNNING DURING THE DAY, BECAUSE OF THE LIGHTS. YOU CAN GO TO A RENTAL PLACE AND RENT THE LIGHTS IT DOSENT COST THAT MUCH. I THINK YOU WILL HAVE A BETTER TURN OUT IF YOU GUYS RUN AT NIGHT. ALOT OF PEOPLE DO YARD WORK AND HAVE HANGOVERS [smiley=Wacko.gif] ON SAT MORNING.CAUSE IT SURE DOES GET HOT IN FLA. THATS WHY WE RUN AT NIGHT. IT GIVES THE PEOPLE THAT DRIVE 5 AND 6HOURS ANUF TIME TO GET THERE. JUST A THOUGHT LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU GUYS THINK.

first of all, i was at sand mountain before there was racing and i raced after that. i think its a great place to ride and race. tom took a lot of time to talk with us riders to get input and designed a pretty decent track. yes it is not a stadium supercross track and sometimes things run a little funny. but he has done an excellent job. i think. i give him mad props just for putting up with all the shizit that goes down. i do however think he has made a buisness mistake by letting anyone race for free or enter for free. hell, i supported the track in two class and no one payed my way!! the only thing i see wrong with the place is the fact that he listened to the wrong people and made the track more flat and less skill to ride so people who can spend thousands on a bike but cant ride can win easier. rules could use some updating or put some jumps or something like it was the first day!!!
im sorry to put this post rtr bro cause i know ya. but for you to bash the mountain like that is rough dude. i mean when he closed because of the heat i was upset too. but i also seen his point. my little girl was to pass out or something id have to sue his ass. safety first. anyways, as i see it you owe him a huge app. especially if he pays for everyone in your group. hell, thats costin him some ducks right there!!!
ps. to anyone who hasnt been there. give it a try before you pass judgement!! you'll be suprised!!
just my two pennies
peace!!

WOW! KIND OF UNEXPECTED COMING FROM YOU!!
I guess sometimes its ok to be put in your place.
AND I DO AGREE W/ YOU- that it was a little harsh for me to say the things i said. But at the same time I did apologize that i was a little unfair!! As you could tell from reading my posts! IVE TAKEN MY BEATEN FROM TOM! And ive eaten my crow!
But just to clear up a few things.
Sponsors of the race track, who may or may not bring alot of riders to the track, dont necessarily deserve special treatment and may or may not have to pay at the gate, but we do pay to race. Let that be understood.
2nd- Thousands of dollars on bikes because less riding skill?
?? I remember when i was on an "R" with only a PIPE AND CARB MOD whoopin' azz on that track! Not to mention the stock "Pred" that did pretty well too! As far as skill- LIKE I SAY- Dont Call It A Comeback, Ive Been Here For Years!!
3rd- I dont know when the last time youve been to the track is but i have been there for every race! The track has gotten more technical w/ more high speed jumps. It also has been widened out in the corners and straights to make it possible to battle side by side!! GREAT RACING! You should come back out and see!
AND LAST- If you read the Sand Mountain posts and ask these guys in the forums, there is not one person that pushes the track more than I do. Hell, I practically am begging people to give that track a chance.
Brother, you know I love ya! Known each other a while! Hopefully this is just a discussion between friends. We can always talk about it on the track- Ill give ya a head start!!
MUCH LOVE- JT

Hey kids.....
Thanks for the luv, I personally appreciate it. All I want is for the track to be a FUN place to RIDE and RACE as well as a place where fellow riders/racers can hang with like minded folks for a GOOD TIME. I know there is a BUNCH of BS I/WE have had to deal with from the hurricanes to the website issues, to just plain old confusion, sometimes on my part, but in the end, I go to the track faithfully on every 3rd Sunday and put my own personal best foot forward & I am humbled that you have noticed, for this I thank you. I only hope that the positive feedback can get more RACERS and RIDERS to attend. As RIDERS/RACERS, we do NOT have a lot of places where we can take our ENTIRE FAMILY for a safe and fun place where the youngest to the oldest and even MOM can have some FUN. I think Sand Mountain provides that environment. Hopefully we can make more people "CONQUER THE MOUNTAIN" so to speak. Again, my most sincere thanks for the kind words.
Tom

as for me not being at the track. ive been trying to make it but it has been hard. i have no help at the shop and its been mad busy. i also have half a shop and a ripped up house thanks to ole charles. so ive been doin way too much work. also cant afford to get hurt and be out of work!! however, i think im gonna come out to the next one...that is if the raptor will crank!! and no need for a head start ill just wait on ya at the checkers!!!! see ya there bro!!

I believe, all this discussions are good if all get the best of it, at the end we all are after the same purpose, get a better places to ride and race, I'm sure there are enough atv riders/racers to go to the different places that show up.
I race a FTR and I like seen so many riders, every time new ones show up, I know if at race places like Sandmountain, and the ones that are to come open more often and let riders to practice more and more, there will be a nice crow every time and will grow up ($$$ will grow too ...)
Go ahead, SandMountain finish that MX track, get some sound sistem so everyone can heard you. And go ahead everyone with new ideas and new tracks, a lot of us will be there. do some marketing, and every boddy will help.
Good luck
