I love the my brother this, my friend that. Listen I am driving the truck every day. I know what the truck gets for fuel mileage. I have taken many out of state trips with the truck, where I was the only one driving it, filling it up, etc. I have gauges, I know what my truck is doing. 4 mpg with a chip, unrealistic. I would call your bluff on that.

i drive the truck and yes i saw 4mpg with the chip! i was surprized but honestly there were other factors, more boost, fuel additives, and maybe the colder weather helped my intake air temps. i dont know but the point is performance products can help your fuel milage. i agree that driving slow is the best way, but there are other ways to improve milage.

fuel additive could of been the key. I use lucas fuel lubricant, and guaranteed to get 1 mpg better fuel mileage out of it, especially with the ultra low sulfur diesel. I can see with numerous aftermarket parts, but a chip alone won't yield you 4 mpg, unless you shut it off going down hill.

yea but i was using additive before too i just switched from amsoil to power service, i think boost was the key actualy because i turned it down because i kept getting overboost codes(i was running it real high for this one tank just to see, like 32-34 psi), and my milage droped back to the usual what i got stock, but still not bad for being on the 120 tune if anything you wont lose milage and its worth the extra power alone.

get an overboost regulator or put one in yourself. Just get the line going to the MAP sensor and you won't have the overboost codes anymore. Occasionally, when I am bull$hitting around I will roll my 7.3's boost gauge around to 30 psi and don't have any problems with codes. I bought one, because I was new too diesel's, but $hit, I would of built one, if I would of seen what it was before I bought it.

you just need to trace the line that is going from the line that goes from the discharge of the turbo to the MAP sensor. It should be like a 1/4" black plastic line. Cut it and put the feed into one side of a standard air regulator and the discharge of the air regulator to the MAP sensor. Before you hook up the air regulator, you need to set it at 23 or 24 psi. Give dennis a call at ITPdiesel.com and he can sell you a kit ready to install. That is where I buy all my stuff.

"i dont want to make a seen on the thread, but why must you bash me? i dont drive a $40k truck, i drive a truck that costed about $8k. all i did was try and help by proving my point that moding your truck in the right ways will help feul milage if you know what your doing. im not exactly a disel expert but it seems that just because i am smart about what im into everyone gets all pissed off and thinks im full of crap becuas im some snot nosed 17 year old. it makes no sense, if you know about diesels you everything i said is true, rite? name something i said that was wrong? so why say im a snot nosed kid that dosent know anything? i can understand you not beliving 4mpg increase but if you read on there were some other factors. if you have a problem with me, dont go and bash me infront of everyone, keep it to yourself."
Now I realize that I was wrong, I am outsmarted by these two and I will now stay out of ALL technical discussions.

I see, you might have a pressure sensor right in the line from the discharge of the turbo. You might have to do something different.

Dang, just realized that ITPdiesel only sells Ford parts. Yeah, I am not familiar with a duramax, so I would recommend the garage boyz to help you out. Shouldn't be that hard to hook up though and once you fool the MAP sensor, you are good to go.
