i am trading in my mazda (ranger) for 6500, and putting it down on a diesel, i am a diesel mechanic, and pretty much know enough about the engines, but what worries me is who has the best tranny, which would be a better buy, chevy/GMC 2500 or a dodge 2500, which is a better built truck

What do you have against Ford...My opinion they are the best truck out there right now. Dodge looks good, but you wouldnt catch me driving one.
Chevy obviously makes a great truck too. Id be narrowing it down between those two.

GM has the Allison tranamission. It is the best of the three by far.

Well, if Chevy is still running the Allison behind the Duramax then thats probably the strongest tranny your going to find. All I've heard about Ford is "Don't by the 6.0h no". But mabey their new lineup has changed that.

Thats video is meaningless. Two diffent engine and two different trannys than what this guy wants. It has no relation to this. Plus the guy in the Ford is an idiot for flooring it like that. Do you think you'll get more traction spinning at 30mph?

I can find you about 20 videos of a ford pulling a chevy and dodge pulling a ford, etc. This guy wants a diesel truck, so why post a video of two gas motors duking it out?

I would go with the Chevy/GMC. I've always been a Ford man but I now own a tahoe z71. It's got 180k on it, pulls a trailer every day and no problems yet! Still love the Fords!

i am not to concerned with brand, i kno chevy diesels are the fastest, dodges have most torque, and fords are just inbetween, i just dont know which on to go for, chevy i think looks better lifted, but dodge is also more fuel efficent, so i dunno thanks guy tho

did you not read that it is a gas powered in the video if you read it and knew that you should not have clicked on it and as for importance of the issue you can ask any any diesel mechanic as he should know that anyone will tell you Duramax(isuzu motor)/Allison tranny is handsdown the best set-up in truck at this time. and this one here a f-350 4x4 can hardly pull with 4x4 GAS dodge

Gato, why are you basing your input on this subject on videos from the internet? There are a million factors in every video so non of them, realistically, are relevant. I would buy by what suits you better. If you want a strong drivetrain, go with Chevy. A legendary motor and strong axles, go with Dodge. If you want a shiney, butt ugly truck, go with ford(hehehehe).
