Save the holey lands, tell fwc what you think

I saw this info on another post and wanted to bring it everyones attention (again). The FWC is considering a rule change for the HoleyLands area that would prohibit recreational riding. They also have a comment form where you can express your thoughts on the changes. Please use the link and tell them to save this area for recreational atv use.

scroll down to the holeylands section, and rottenberg section.

this has been coming for awhile now...mostly due to all the trash out there, and exceeding the levee speed limits which has caused alot of injuries and deaths.i can't say i blame fwc,why should they have to babysit all of us that break the rules and ride like idiots..guess i need to go ahead and sell my rincon now,,maybe a hunter will buy it,since they are the only ones allowed to ride out there...

cause they are paid for it if you dont do nothing wrong why sould we get penelized for others. with a comment like that they should prohibit drive cars due to idiots that take red lights and cause accidents , dui drivers, street racers why should cops have to put up with it cause they get paid to and all of us I would say the majority of us that post on all these sites are not the one that trash and all of us are not wreckless drivers for reasons like this they need to inforce laws not close riding spots cause soon we may not be able to drive due to some idiots my.02 and we as a group need to voice and fight not just give up

Funny thing is that they will have to patrol EVEN MORE if this proposed BS law change goes into effect. If they don't patrol it, it's pointless. They probably will not patrol it more than they do now, *BUT* I've seen first hand that FWC LOVES to make examples of people. I wouldn't be surprised if someone lost their bike to the state.
It's not the speeding, it's not the injuries, it's not the deaths.
Go on google earth and look up holey lands. You can see (when you zoom in close enough) that it looks like I-95 going out south from the levee. It's getting redicoulously torn up out there.
The land was set aside for hunting! Not 4 wheeling. I love that place, and I hope to god it doesn't get shut down. I am praying they make it like ONF and Croom, where you have to have an anual paid pass to ride. I wouldn't mind paying $50. I ride there at least 1x a week. I pretty much know the FWC that patrol out there by first name now

I hate to say it but, it's already over for ATV's in the holeylands. Too much liability, too hard to control and a giant history of ruining the place is what brought the end for ATV's. It is a shame but so true.

It is a shame, and it is true!
Land was set aide for hunting, they are going back to that.
The problem is that it is going to have to be HEAVILY patrolled. I know from talking to those guys that they will have to hire more people just to cover that area sufficiently.
The proposed law also states that there will be a MANNED check station fri, sat, sunday.
Also, they are going to have to have their buggy/track out htere all the time, I know of several different ways to get back there, it's not just the l-5 and miami canal levee's...
