I'm sure everyone goes through this every now and again.  The last time my boy and I went to Croom it was the best ever.  This time,,,,,,wow! what a bad day.
We get there and I unload my son's bike first.  I always fire it up and let it warm up while I'm getting mine out and ready.  I'm not sure what the deal was with his bike but it took almost an hour to get it started.  My foot was really hurtin from the kick started.  But off he went in the kids area to ride while I got mine going.  First thing after I got my bike out of the truck I noticed the front tire was flat.  I drug out my pump and got it pumped up.  My bike usually always fires on the first kick and at about the fifth kick, the gears in the kick starter totally sheared.  I have been having a problem with that but today it became a show stopper.  So, I had to load my bike up without any play time.  Cry Cry Cry

My son had a pretty spectacular crash and roached his handlebars, gear shifter, along with his leg and shoulder. Cry  Then to finish it off, I got to load his bike in a down poor so big I was tempted to get my life preserver.  So as of now, both my son's and my bike are out of commission.

I guess that's what ya get when you fool around with vintage bikes.  And by saying "vintage" I mean old clunkers.  Huh

I think there's a little bit of Karma in here as well.  I have a good buddy of mine really needing some help with some remodel work and I didn't really do much yesterday besides slow him down and today opted to go riding instead of helping him out.  So after a day like I have had, Karma has definitely evened the score.

anyone Else have that kind of day?

I went to croom once and my son was comin up in his truck with his shee.we made plans to park in the back(like we always do).well I got there first and unloaded the quad out of the back of the truck and waited and waited and waited and waited(he has a cell phone but i don't)after sittin there for 5 hours waitin on him I said the hell with it and loaded up (I don't ride alone).so on the way out I notice his truck parked at the front pit seems his girlfriends brother called him and they decided to park in the front and ride from there.so i pulled in and I was steamin I asked how long they were there and he said since around 9am.(I got there at 8:30)they were ridin that whole time I was pi$$ed I said you knew i was back there and you couldn't drive back there and tell me you were gonna park up here or ride the trails back and let me know.well any way I was way to pi$$ed to ride then so I just drove back to st. pete and said the hell with them.

Sorry you had such a bad day.  My weekend was great.  Beat the crap out of the other team at my kickball game friday night.  Followed by a great date.  Then boating plans got cancelled due to rain so I headed to the ranch.  Spent Sat and Sun at the ranch w/ friends and had a blast.  Got a chance to target practice w/ the bow so I should be set to start hunting in the next few weeks.

Just as bad but more expensive. The day started out good. Went over to yoda's place where he gave me a free set of tire's and a rollbar for my son in laws hunt truck."Thanks by the way".
While we were there we started talking about mud trucks
and decided to hit the mud pit in the afternoon. The beer was flowing and I was talking smack to my buddies, about how I was going to walk the pit in 2wd.
Well ten beers later Im stuck. No big deal, shift into 4wd, try and climb out of the pit and broke the ring gear in the front diff. Still no big deal, stuff happens. Ten minutes later my buddies jeep catches on fire.
Two fire extinguisers later it is still burning, so I hook up to it to my truck so I can drag it out of the woods so they don't burn with the truck. His truck was still in gear so I had to drag it.
Ten feet from the middle of a clearing I sent a rod thru the side of the block.
Guess it's time for an upgrade.

I'll see your bad day and raise you mine.

this was a couple years ago I think, but the memories are fresh.

I have to give some background for it to really hurt,,,,here goes.  a couple months before, one of my neighbor's friends had backed into the back of my truck and basically crinkled up the tailgate,,,,,took it to a Ford dealer who said it was so bad they would only replace it and paint to match, so I shopped around and finally found a body shop that would just bondo it and paint it.  I got a quote from them for a little under $500 and I had to save for about 3 months to get the money to fix it, but finally got it done and it looked great, I couldn't even tell the difference in paint.  Well, it took me another 2-3 months to get my quad paid for because it had blown a headgasket about the time some idjit ran into my truck.

So after about 6 months of being out of commision with no quad and a nasty-looking truck, I finally had the time and money to go to Ocala and go riding.

So I unload up in Ocala and take a ride of about 2 miles just taking it easy on the engine since it was just put back together a couple days before, and everything is cool.  After I get my stuff inside the cabin and I'm ready to ride, I gear up and hop on,,,,I get about 5 miles out into the woods when I feel a sickening thing,,,,I lost most of the power I had and suddenly the engine is MUCH louder than it was before,,,,I know what it is and decide not to even look at it or shut it down, but to ride it back to the cabin and throw it back on the trailer.  After riding back to the cabin at about 4mph in 2nd gear because that was about as much as I could do, I had to push the quad on the trailer and look at it.

Of course, I see that the headgasket blew once again and yet another riding trip was ruined,,,,well at this point I'm screamin so loud I think the neighbors heard me and locked the doors, so I kick the nearest thing to me on the ground which happens to be a spatula(don't know why it was on the trailer).

Well, I heard the spatula hit something metal, so I turned hoping it would be the quad it hit, but nope,,,,,it hit the soft paint and bondo combination on the tailgate of my truck and left a nice gash on my tailgate.

I went inside, shut everything down and went home.

Life has it's up's & down's for sure,
I just say "it could always be worse", but I know sometimes it doesn't seem like it can, but believe me it can.
Prayer & friends & family seem to help for me.

Id@, congrats on your 5000th post

Yeah, everyone always tells me to "cheer up, things could be worse"   and they are always right because when I do cheer up, things usually get worse.  Bang Head Wacko

talkin about bad days at ocala!me and the son decided to go to bigscrub once
(before the trail system b.s)we had never been and heard it was real cool.so we headed out from st. pete.and got there after about 3 hours.parked on the powerlines when we got out of the truck there were abunch of cans and bottles and crap on the ground so we threw them in the back of the truck.anyway we unload fuel up and everything and take off not knowing where we are or where we're goin .we turn left off the powerline and take a trail and rode for about45 mins. to an hour when my son says we have to turn around cause his chain is slippin so we turn around and start to head back and have no idea where we are we finally hit the powerline and we are about 5 miles from the truckwe rode slow back to the truckby the time we got there both his sprockets are toast.it was still early so we try to find a bike shop.what a joke that was.we ended up in leesburg at the yamaha dealer and get some sprockets.then we decide to drive to hernando to my parents house to try to fix his quad and ride around there a little bit.so we there and tear the banshee apart and then find out the idiot at the stealership sold him the wrong sprockets.wehen we get back to st.pete he got sprockets somewhere and we put them on with the new chain and come to find out the chain adjuster on the left side is stripped out. THAT DAMN BANSHEE I SWEAR EVRYTIME WE RIDE SOMETHIN BREAKS ON IT.  LOL but goin over all those whoops with a slippn chain really did a number on those sprockets
