I am looking to purchase a reasonably prices digital camera that can last.  I have purchased two in the last two years but both have been broken because my family drops them.  Everyone here seems to know a lot about many things so....anyone have any suggestions on a durable, decent, reasonably priced digital camera.  Just take vacation pics, racing pics, family pics.  Grin

fuji E550 or it's updated version is a great compact piece. It has taken great pictures for us. You may want to check out the consumer reports report for a more informed decision.

I don't think you are going to find a digital camera that will still work once dropped. Good luck. if you do get a new one don't let no one else hold it. and make sure you use the wrist loop thingy when in use. prevents droppage.

I've purchased 3 different models of Sony over the last 3 years and have had problems with all 3.  Recommend you don't buy a Sony camera.

I've had REALLY good luck with HP's photosmart line of cameras, I can't tell you how many miles mine have ridden with me and one even took a spill that broke the hood of my helmet, but still takes good pictures.

sounds like any camera will work for ya, if you just wrap it in bubble wrap before letting your family hold it.  Tongue

I have a Sony Cybershot 7.2MP camera forsale if your interested.  Comes with Camera, Case, 512MB card, battery and charger and cleaning kit.  I have had it since March I believe and I've used it only a handful of times.  Has a LithiumIon battery that lasts a long time between charges instead of crappy AA batteries.  Looking to get around $175+ship for it.  Paid 200 for the camera alone.

It is imposible to break a Canon in my opinion. The A530/560's are pretty cheap now and take awesome pictures.

We hire a police sketch artist for family outings. It's much more preferable than a camera.

That sounds like a Canon S2 / S3 IS. Awesome camera with major zoom!

I just bought a S3IS off eBay for $170.  Want a slight upgrade from my Cybershot before I get my DSLR lol.
