thanks guys, heres some pics of the motor. the guy that polished it did a half ass job, lots of spots he missed, none of the nooks and crannys, and altogether its not that shiny. i think the pics would look better if i didnt have so much crap in the background. and im not sure if im gunna get rear plastics yet, i dont really need them. ill see how it looks when i get the seat back tommorow from the upholestry shop. id rather not spend the $200 or so it costs for rears. i think it would look like a drag bike without them, but then again it will probably just look silly because the rest of the bike is setup for MX, even though i dont race

 It looks OK, but I would have it polished again. Get plastics too...you don't want it to look incomplete!! It is one nice lookin ride.Almost like you can't get it dirty when you finish!!

Wow, very nice build. I would leave the rear plastics off. Skinny, low, and wide is the best way to go. Both for looks and performance. Besides, not many people ride them like that anyways. Plus, if you ever decide to sell it, you can just buy plastics for the rear and they will be brand new with no scratches from the trails. Might bring up the value a bit.

Good luck starting it. Post up a sound clip for us!

I am in love with this thing. I think it would look fine without rear plastics if you had paddles all the way around, then it'd look like a true duner, but with the mxr6's I think you need the rear plastics, just looks kinda goofy. But if it rides fine, and you don't get pelted with debris, then go for it. It's your bike brudda.

yeah i know the bike looks like a duner but the tires makes it look silly because this is florida. but ive ridden with no plastics before and they dont really do much for blocking debris. i like it

soooo anyway about 5min ago i started it for the first time. i didnt mix any gas up so i just sprayed a little ether in the carb, i didnt want to run it long because there wasnt any radiator fluid in there plus the jetting is wayyyy off. so it only ran for a second or so on the ether. i did that a few times and it sounds awsome. so now its off to ATP to get tuned next week. i took a video off my phone. later!

i drove it down my street today and it blew up. the crank is frozen, the cases are damaged, and the bottom of the sleeve cracked off.

if anyone has a 250r motor for sale let me know. preferably one with a good bottom end and moded for pro-x cylinder

Sound to me like you dropped a bolt in the Cylinder and forgot about it. Happens all the time.

picture of the case damage. i put the motor together perfectly, the reason it broke was because i drove it when i shouldnt have. it wasnt broken in yet and the jetting was wayyy lean. i just wanted to drive it to check for any problems before i took it to ATP to get tuned and broken in properly on their dyno.

right now im working on getting the cylinder resleeved and i have a couple leads on a good bottom end. hopefully it will be back together soon, but this was quite the expensive little mistake i made.

acctually i do have a pressure washer you can buy. its a real nice one too...but it doesnt work. its a briggs 6.5hp, runs perfect, very little use but it wont pressurize that water. it runs and the water comes out but no pressure

Nice lookin bike, son.  I rebuilt an '88 back when I was about 14.  It turned out pretty good but wasn't as involved as yours.  I'll see if I can scan my dinosaur 4x6 pics and post em up.  Have any desire to go out west and try it on the dunes?  I am trying to plan a trip one of these days.  Pizzle my nizzle.

Funny you mention that because I'm planning on moving out west in less than 2 yrs.  I can't imagine living somewhere with that kind of riding all the time.  Can't wait.
