Pics of our ride in the mountians of TN Royal Blue WMA

http://community.webshots.com/user/bighouse35

We arrived Friday mornin about 10:30 (to early to check in) so they campa just let us park and go ride. We rode Friday for 7 hours and he trails were just unbelievable. We rode several different ones but the one that stands out is High Rock. It is a 65 - 70 degree incline straight up the side of the mountain for over a 1/4 mile, consisting of rocks, mud and tree roots. This trail will wear your buns out and test your skills. We all made it to the top (mommahouse did great). We ended up getting lost and we were on the back side of the mountain and off WMA property, stopped at a house and asked directions and rode the main rode 10 miles back to the campground. We arrive a little after 6 pm an checked in.

Saturday Bighouse and I were up early for a early mornin ride (Rained Friday night so the trails were slick and the mountain streams were high and flowing fast. A guy weighing about 300 lbs on a 700 popo tried crossing one and it started washing him down stream!) and went for about 2 1/2 hours. We scoped out several of the main trails to learn the area better. While we were out ridin we came up on a Red Wolf standing in the middle of one of the trails. He ran into the trees and just stood and looked back at us. We went back to camp for breakfast (campground has a lodge and serves meals) biscuts & gravy, eggs and bacon (know the men will appreciate this). They also packed us a lunch for the trail. All 3 of us went back out and rode another 5 hours. Got back to camp about 5:30, cleaned up and went to a place called Rickards Ridge for dinner (best damn BBQ I have had since I left Texas 9 yrs ago). If you go remember this place 2 exits south on Cove Lake. When we got back Bighouse & I went out for a 2 hour night ride, just amazing the sounds in the forest at night. Got back to camp about 11 pm.

Sunday more of the same except all 3 of us were up early for breakfast and the ridin for about 6 1/2 hours. New trails were ridden and amazing scenery. Back to camp for gas and a nap before dinner. After dinner we all went out again for about 2 1/2 hours of night ridin.

All this being said we had the most amazing vacation ridin in the mountains. The deluxe cabin we were in sleeps 6, has fridge, microwave, satellite TV, toilet and shower. The owners of the campground were very accommodating and the prices for great food were very reasonable. I would recommend this place to anyone. Would be a great place for a fall colors ride if a group wanted to go.

Papahouse-that is some beautiful country! AWESOME photo's! I've been through Tenn a couple of times, but not royal blue.  What part of the state is it in. Also, how much are the cabins to rent for a week?  (or two hehe).

Great pics...Is that the camp off I-75 at stinking creek exit? We get a cabin down the road from there. Thought the prices for riding Royal blue for out of staters was very high. We go to Brimstone just west of there or we go down to Windrock.

I took the family there in June 06' , and loved it. It is a very beautiful place. The fishing was pretty good in that little creek in front of the property also.
