I would register it if you want to ride in public places.

Go to forum's, click on Ocala N.F. association, & I think theres a sticky on how to do it, It's not that hard just gotta go to the DMV I think.

If you date the bill of sale before 6/01/01 you will not have to pay tax.

Just add the vin # and that is perfect. If they try to charge you tax say no you are wrong. My friend just went through it. They tried to charge him tax and he said I don't pay tax. They said everyone pays tax. He said you better look again. They had a meeting of the minds and went on the internet and read the link I posted and guess what..................NO TAX.

Do not let them charge you tax!

Good luck

it says no proof of sales tax is required.  Not no sales tax is required

I have paid sales tax on all 3 of the used bikes I have purchased

seems to be a gray area ,but you pay sales tax on all vehicles, boats, and street bikes with every sale, so why would they exclude atv's and no collect that tax money???

If you read and understood the whole thing you would get it. That means you don't have to pay tax. Read page 10. It is a check list of things you need to register a OHV. The check list of vehicles purchased before 7/01/01 is the only one NOT to mention TAX.

I have paid sales tax on all 3 of the used bikes I have purchased

You should have only paid tax if you bought them after 7/01/01. Not knowing cost you money.

When I did my 250R I had the same problem. They wanted to charge me tax. After I got past the counter over to the cashier I had the problem all over again. She said wait you need to pay tax. I said listen I just went through this over there for 30 minutes. I said go talk to the boss. I DO NOT PAY TAX and i didn't.

I wouldn't worry about that, as long as the bike is older than 2001 you can get away with it.

Just write anything with anybodys name on it. Do you think the person behind the counter cares? The only thing they are going to look at the date and vin #. Have one of your friends write it for you. I did it for Turboderf on 3 different occasions.

Yes you can have your Dad write. They will have no idea where the quad has been. You have nothing to worry about. Go for it.
