Make sure your shotgun can shoot a slug first. You will have no problem between 150 and 200 yards. Slugs have a tendency to shoot high. Make sure you get a good scope to handle the impacts from the slug, which has a tremendous kickback. I would recommend a good shoulder pad. www.floridabash.com

Were do you go that you need to use a shotgun and not a rifle.

Most of the time the Bucks are on the youg tree lines next to older pine.

mine is very accurate between 50 and 100. I never shot it further than 100. you need a shotgun scope. one that is made for a shotgun. believe it or not, my shotgun scope is one of those small ones and i like it better than my rifle scope. field of view is better.

rifled barrels are available for most shotguns to shoot slugs. if you poke around some gun sites you might see shotguns refered to as deer guns. those guns are set up for slugs. they are pretty acurate but the round is very slow, so anything over a hundred might be delfected by winds. simillar to my 44 lever action its a great close range gun with power, not really know for long shots.

it will be a Mossberg 835 with a fully rifled barrel. 12ga. the reason for the shotgun is ive never seen a place to shoot more than 150yda in florida where i hunt and a barrel is alot cheaper than a $700 rifle. i can get a good scope and the barrel for $250. i also bird hunt and do alot of turkey hunting. and i just perfer the shotguns over rifles. theyre cheaper to shoot for fun. i dont hunt too many times a year so at least for now a rifle wouldnt be worth it really. The gun is basically this gun: http://www.mossberg.com/images/Mossberg_Guns/930/New/62338.jpgalong with the slug barrel from this one: http://www.mossberg.com/images/Mossberg_Guns/930/New/62414.jpgthanks for all the info. i really appreciate it.

Ok, shotgun are good for all around hunting for one, rifled barrel are only good for slugs, turkey you need a full choke and for 00 buck you need a mod choke. 2 3/4 shell with 1 oz Slugs are good for 50yds dead on after that it drops about 2 inch at 100 yds at 150yds drop 4 inches.

Hey Fox, make sure you try that Mossberg out. The pump action makes a lot of noise when you lift the gun. I personally do not like the way they built them. I bought one last year and I really do not like how loose and how much noise it makes.

i use a full for turkey and i use modified for buckshot right now. i dont like the range of the buckshot though. only good for 50yds max.

My son has a older model mossberg and his is great. No noise you until pump it. I hope no gay stuff come on that. On the other hand mine if I move the gun it clangs. They made the stabilizer a lot thinner, making it less stable--Good luck I hope you got a good one. Look at hunting section and post pictures of your kills http://davie.freeforums.org/viewforum.php?f=7Hunting discussions http://davie.freeforums.org/viewforum.php?f=7I just saw your post Big Daddy. Typical wasteful Miami Cuban. Why waste $1.33 when a 2 cent .22 mag will work just fine.
