a bunch, normally pop-ups come from something you installed earlier that had another program piggybacked with it that gives you "personally directed advertisements" or so they call it,,,,,in other words, pop-ups that they think you might actually click on.

you can do a search for:

spybot search and destroy
adaware
windows one care

I use a bunch of tools in order to get rid of spyware, but one of the best to avoid pop-ups when browsing is to use Mozilla Firefox as your browser,,,,I can surf all the porn I want without pop-up pages ;-)

I don't know as much about computer's as most of you, I remember my Uncle had a Commodore Vic20, then moved up to a 64 then like a 128 or somethin like that, it was back when all I had was an Atari, i didn't like Colecovision, the kid across the street had it.
My favorite game in the whole world was I think before Atari & it had a gun w a cord & you would shoot ducks
LOL

My friends daughter made Google my homepage & it came w/ a tool bar that has a pop up blocker.
Another friend installed AVG Free Edition(for Viruses)on it & I think it works good, it show's you the names of the viruses it stopped, one was the trojan horse virus I remember.
Again i don't know much about computers though.
