Been raining all day, so I only got a little riding in, the girlfriend tagged along and took some great pics. I just finished welding in the bare performance gusset kit, and I installed a twist throttle because I kept having problems with the thumber and I kept getting quaders thumb. Figure I'd get some seat time in the woods and get used to the twist throttle. Still have a little more dialing in to do. Enjoy.

The first pic looks exactly like my old 400 from the top view. I even had the same start button.

Haha thanks cuz!

Swamp Donkey- Yeah...about that. I let her ride it, and she was like a ping pong ball running into trees. I should buy her a little 50  Cool lol. But she is learning.

Scratchupbangup- That black blob was hideous wasnt it? when are you picking up your 450?

Oh yeah Erik, I switched back to the thumber and took the spring out of the thumb throttle assembly and it was a world of difference. I rode for 3 hours straight yesterday with no quaders thumb. The twist would still be nicer for those longer rides, but overall the thumb is the best.

I just bought a F350 dually. I have to sell my Tahoe, and get the payments on the Ford down some. I have a friend with a LTR modded, but he's older and has Rhumetoid arthritis in both hands and can't ride anymore. He said he would hold onto the LTR for me when I'm ready to buy it.

Idk, If I were to be towing something I think I would much rather have a 350 dually. And yes his F350 dually is a diesel.

I still have my Tahoe, although it's up for sale. The F350 is better on fuel, and I won't have to trailer my quad when I get it.

Yeah. I have a buddy with a 05. He bought Elka's and gave me his 05 setup. It made a difference, but my next ride is going to be full setup. I ride fast and hard, and I've been challenged by my buddy in the QS's.
I'm gonna miss that 400!! Cry Cry Cry Cry

Actually, my buddy has a 04 KFX400 full race ready he's going to sell me for $3500. Even the motor is setup better than mine was. I race the quad scrambles and I do a lot of trail riding, so I decided to stay with the 400's.
MX is fun, but one mistake and your hurt good...I know.

Very True! I know someone who got hurt pretty bad not too long ago. Not saying any names. **Ahem cough Erik cough**. Glad to hear your staying with the 400's. If ya don't mind me askin, what all is done to the 400? Big Bore/Stroker? Cammed? The works?

Everything except the big bore. I think you don't get very much more out of the big bore. The only other thing I'll need is a aftermarket stem like a Tag.
It's been port & polished too.Plus, it's got all the suspension-A-arms, swingarm, Elka's axle.He takes care of it and does all the work himself.
I think I even caught him with  armor all once. Did you see the pics in the open discussion post-Photobucket pics?

No I didn't see em I'll go check them out. Your right about the big bore situation in a way. But supposedly, and according the guru's on Z400central.com, an Athena 434 kit, is somewhat more reliable then stock. You get a brand new cylinder, with wider water jackets for increased cooling. Then you could add a hotrod stroker crank and make it a true 450 if you wanted to, and be pretty darn reliable, and still be able to run premium pump gas. But I wouldn't do any of that without both cams, DRZe valve springs, and 3/4 timing chain, and a bigger carb. I really do not like the mikuni BSR 36mm that comes with the Z400, it really restricts it. I have a few buddies that threw on a 450r 42mm carb, and a YFZ FCR-39mm carb, and it really helps open up the taps!

Erik, my bad cuz, you know I'm just bustin your ballz Cool No hard feelins lol.

I'll have to see one day if I have enough income for those kind of mods. It already runs really strong. The QS's you really need more torque, and this thing has plenty of that. If I try to go any faster through the woods, I might hurt myself.
I've seen TRX-9 ride at Lakeland. It sure looks fun, but I cased a jump at Sunshine and I hurt my back pretty good. My second time on a MX track, and I was trying to clear everything.I know I'll get hurt because I don't like to back off. I think I'll stick to the ground and smaller jumps!!  Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked
