Today an unfortunate event happened. While riding in Zephryhills one of my buddies Fiance fell off her quad when trying to climb a steep embankment and lost control and off in the lake it went. Luckly right before this we had seen quite a few of the SunCoast FlatLander members out there and rushed for some help to try and get this submerged quad out of the water.

Thanks to all of you who helped and those who took pics.  I owe one of you a six pack of beer as we broke your tie strap on the tow back to our trucks.

UPDATE: The quad still runns. after draining all the fluids and running a bunch of oil through it and new gas, she runs like new....

(FOR YOUR VIEWING PLEASURE!!!!)

[/quo  Thanks for everyones help that was there and for condolences on here as well. I told her as we were leaving no more riding until BOTH of our Quads have kill tethers on them. It would have never went into the water if the engine was killed. She is OK and helped flush her bike out and all is good except for the hours of cleaning and her wonderful headache from hitting her head on that wonderful hard ground. But headaches beat roadrash any day compared to her spill on her Streetbike(Kawi 636) a couple of years ago. Lesson learned to all BUY A KILL TETHER and for the guys dont make the girls ride beyond their abilities. Well now time for some rest I'm beat but will be back out next weekend for sure...Thanks guys and gals from Suncoast Flatlanders if any of ya are on this board as well. Kevin n Amanda......: )~

I want to see a pic of the steep embankment that caused it.  I love steep embankments.

It's steep but only about a 10-12ft embankment. If you walk up it you can put your arm out straight and touch the embankment easily. If that makes any sense to you.

I made sure to login to the Suncoast Flatlanders website and I thanked them for the pics and help, they e-mailed me copies of the pics. I'm glad to hear that her quad is running again.

did you deck the Raptor 350 out with some of Jerry's snorkles? hehe, or maybe a home made tether? a rope on the spark plug wire should work if it tied to her ankle...!!!!

Wow, very lucky she wasnt hurt.  I couldnt imagine knowing the outcome if she was trapped underneath.  And I think that ATV Lifejacket idea would be a good thing to invest in Wink

Well, I hope your buddy was smart enough to get his engagement ring back and call off the wedding.

Actually, she shouldn't feel so bad. I flipped a quad once and submerged it trying to hydroplane across a lake after watching the Carpe Diem video. Luckily it wasn't mine.

Hell no I didn't take the engagement ring back. Now if she would have cleared the climb and landed it perfectly and out rode me then yeah but since I still ride better I'll keep her for now...HEEHEE Would't trade her for anyone else in the world...Yep she is lucky could have been worse but she is a tough one.
