So was I.

Eminent domain, recognized in both federal and state constitutions, is the power of government to condemn private property and take title for public use, provided owners receive just compensation. Known once as the despotic power, its exercise was restrained by the need to compensate owners and the requirement that the property taken be put to a "public use." For many years, however, courts have read the public-use restraint broadly, enabling governments to take property from one owner, often small and powerless, and transfer it to another, often large and politically connected, all in the name of economic development, urban renewal, or job creation.

The CCC was started as a "job creation", so what do you think?

I was thinking of eminent domain as the way they take soem of your land for public use as in some of your yard for streets. I wonder if they could do that with such a large parcel of land under the same guise. I was wondering if more people buy in if they could say it violates some restrictions pertaining to ohv use in Fl. Or if the EPA could say it's too traumatic for the natural environment to sustain, to modify how river ranch is used.

I heard a rumor about 4? years ago about a "Disney" Corporation (who I was told is a silent backer of Forever Florida) wanting to buy Suburban Estates, River Ranch, and a bunch of little guys in conjunction with the State to combine the 3 lakes WMA so there can be a HUGE Wildlife Attraction like a little Africa of some sort Disney Style Huh Just look at Forever Florida Website and see what it would be like but on a much larger scale http://www.floridaecosafaris.com/index.php

Like I said it was a rumor and this was back when the Eminent Domain thing first started out at Suburban Estates a long time ago and still nothing has come of it  Huh

I do know that Disney has to buy hundreds of acres of Wetlands to preserve in other places in the state to make up for the damage they do on their land.

It takes a while to cross all the T's & dot all the I's. If disney is in fact interested in it, you wont know for sure until they have put all the opposition in their pockets & the little people like the "deed" owners will just get what the land is worth.
In that case, the latest "deed" buyers will be getting screwed hard because the only actual land left out there is in swamps or marshes.
This has been rumored since the early 80's I know for a fact.

You really think they'll get to screw those with big money in their camps? what about those that invest tons of time to make their camp nice and bring out generators, etc that they would otherwise never use ?

The value of the land out there is between $600-$1000 per acre. They wont pay you for your structures you build because they are considered unpermitted structures therefore they are technically illegal.
This would be the most lodgical reason the state would take over is because of the possibly millions of dollars they have lost in non permitted construction & septic systems.
The treehuggers would be all over the septic sytems in a barrel out there.

But since it's all owned by individuals would they have a hard time getting in to prove it? besides they'd have to bring seperate actions against each land owner, it's not like a corporation that they can go after. And with it being so remote (barring a huge investor like Disney) I don't see any reason for trying to take it until development grows that direction. But still it's interesting.

Well obviously you dont know any of us very well. The best people you will ever meet (not talking about me, but the rest of the FMR clan). You sir are a huge hypocrite and dont seem to realize that the same stuff that made you mad here, is the same stuff you are doing at the other site. Oh well, sometimes people dont ever learn.
