JackL, "It's" not in Tampa (Hillsborough). I think "it's" in Largo (Pinellas)
We wouldn't have that here in Tampa town, we did try to get Joe Redner in Tampa though, but I hear he's a fag too.
FWIW, look up Joe Redner's kid's on Hillsborough Co. arrest inquiry web site.

your idea of being a role model is sitting back and putting everyone else first?
F@#K that! who cares where you work, how many wives or kids you have...if your not happy , you need to do something about it..bottom line...
and as for the beer issue....have you ever seen a video clip of our o so great president drunk? come on now
No my idea of being a role model is putting my family first!
That's whats wrong with the society, like you said, "F" how many wives you have or kids you have..... So if you not happy, ah the hell with the kids and wives, who needs them, I am not happy, and I want to be happy. Being an adult means taking responsibility for your actions, being a parent means putting your kids and your family first. If more people would do that with their kids, this world would not be so screwed up.

im not in anyway saying forgot about them and leave them high and dry...i'm saying dont put everyone else first all the time...people do that too much...and i totally agree with taking care of your responsibilities and being a parent...
but there comes a time when people have had enough...what if he was fighting his inner demons, and it came to him takinig his own life or changing his sex and trying to be happy? i think his son would want to have his father around in any shape, rather than dead? and i know all the close minded individuals are going to have a field day with that last sentence...let em have it

I am not sure I understand what you are saying there where I highlighted it.
He never dressed that way at work or during anything related to work. Not sure what the relevancy is there.
HE fully intended to show up at work as a man dressed as a woman, and 99% of things that get done in this world are either to pay a mortgage or for personal revenge IMO.
Quote from: Loven It on May 30, 2007, 12:31:56 PM
Not sure how she makes Tampa look bad either since she has nothing to do with Tampa? Let alone how she makes the state look bad. The state made themselves look bad when they fired some one based off sexuality vs job performance. Everyone that worked with Steve stated what a great job he did as city manager. So who made the state look bad other than the state?
Well as a guy 350 miles removed from the situation, google led me to believe this is a Tampa issue.

After enduring years of hanging chad jokes, pretty much everything negative in FL results in a whole new round of country wide Florida humor. I am not so far from the area, and the only Largo I know is in Monroe County, and it is a Key. How is someone from Nebraska going to view this...? Florida, that's how. I don't like being lumped in with a bunch of yahoos who have a man dressed as a woman doing anything for the city, county or state.
Quote from: Loven It on May 30, 2007, 12:31:56 PM
The whole point I was making was that sexuality has nothing to do with how the job was being performed.
Morally I do not agree with it but who am I to judge. Like I said the 20/20 episode on transgender people was very enlighting. Have you ever seen anything pertaining to a transgender 6yr old? Would it be sick if a 12yr old child wanted to do this after living all those years feeling they don't belong in their own body.
I guess I don't understand why everyone is getting so bent out of shape about this. Seriously does her choice to become a woman affect any of you personally? NO it dosen't...I do not even feel bad for her former wife, she knew he felt this way for a long time.
The voters elected a man to whatever position HE holds. They were never made aware of this crazy 'I want to be a woman' side when they were electing him. That makes him a liar and untrustworthy. Anyone who feels free to indulge such a crazy whim is borderline insane IMO, and in no way qualified to hold any sort of public office.
Quote from: Loven It on May 30, 2007, 12:31:56 PM
I am not saying here that no one is entitled to an opinion either....
I guess I see this all so differently than anyone else because in high school there was a transgender male that went from male to female. The things people did to her were so mean and horrible, I am suprised she never committed suicide. Students wanted her out of honors classes because she was different not because she wasn't smart. Same thing here - get rid of him because he is different not because he couldn't do the job.
I knew I should have stayed out of this thread
Neither am I.
It is nice that you are so enlightened, really.
The only experience I have with 'transgendered' males is at two bars I am forced to service the NTN game system in Key West at. I can assure EVERYONE here, these people are not right by ANYONES standards! Perhaps these folks are not representative of the whole 'chop off the jewels and dress like a woman crowd', but it is seriously nothing I would ever wish on my worst enemy,( driving four hours to service these machines )
and the one helper who I trained to fix these systems flat out refuses to ever return. I can't blame him, and if it wasn't a very important client to me, neither would I.
EDIT: Clarified my statement a bit.

Ah but he/she paid to have female parts. Now he can play w/ them forever. Now he can go into any women's locker room and watch the shower scene w/o getting thrown out. He/she can have all the female t & a for a lifetime. In addition, as all you men often tell women...that women can get IT much easier than they can. Now he/she has increased his/her odds of getting some? Idiot or mastermind? Think about it.
Your statements contradict each other. First you say what a sexual master mind.
Then you say one has nothing to do with the other. Seems like they are along the same lines to me.

Ok Don I'm a bit lost here. Can you please explain how changing sexes and pedifiles are related? He/She is still a person like everyone else. He/She didn't feel like the outside matched the inside feelings. Would it have been better to have lived life a lie? Seems to me he/she is doomed either way. Stay the same sex and be considered a liar, change sexes and take the ridicule of others that are scared. IMO if he/she can do the job then sex or sex change shouldn't matter.
I agree with everyone that says a FREAK like that shouldn't be doing a job like that.

All I can say is I WISH I was the OP of this post, dang!!!
I can't help but feel personal feelings about posters are clouding some peoples judgement in this thread...?
No matter, if you seriously want to defend these sort of people it is your right, I certainly am not judging HIM. I am recounting my feelings and some experiences I feel are relevant on the matter.
Carry on.

Cross dressing is not the issue here.
Would you be more ok with the surgery if she would have been been born with both parts, then had to make a choice what parts to keep?
2strokins comment - that the message she is sending is do what you want no matter what people think - I think that is a very strong message, and I commend that. There should be more people who do what they feel is right for them and not care what people think - That is a leader...
I also agree that the whole time Steve was in office he felt and ran the city of Largo feeling like a woman. So now even though you were good enough as a man now that you are a woman you need to be fired. That is crap!!
I am saying it is is not up to ANY ONE OF US to judge someone based on having a sex change operation. Obvisously none of you have experienced first hand what these people go through. THEY ARE STILL PEOPLE and should be treated as a person.
Here is the link I keep referring to about the 20/20 episode about transgender children....let me guess they are freaks/nut jobs too??? I think not. People ARE born this way and its sad that society has to ALWAYS pass judgement. Why dosen't everyone seriously look at this. This story when it aired broke my heart.

he's not out there making radical rules or decisions that are off the wall....or force his views upon us....

WTF dont YOU understand
OH, I understand that he may have done VERY well at HIS job previously. But that doesnt mean that he is mentally stable then nor now.
The Man/half woman made commitments and took an oath, he broke those he swore on, and has made himself/herself look like a fool, incompitent, too unstable for such a position.
We are gonna have to agree to disagree on this one. You have your opinion, and I have mine. I am DONE with this Topic, I dont live in Largo, So they can deal with it down there.

Ok, my first statement as usual was to attempt to lighten the situation. If you haven't read my posts I'm generally making jokes about something. As for my second statement. I still feel that he is capable of doing the job. I do feel bad for the son. How confusing it must be and what a horrible experience this must be for him and his mother. Freak or not if the job gets done that's what's important.
I wouldn't consider a man w/ long hair or a woman w/ short hair any less of their gender. Why should I care if someone dresses different?

he didnt take an oath to never get confused and change his sexuality....he probably agreed to uphold the law, and make decisions for the city of largo that would make the city a better place for evrone and keep everyones interest first..
does everyone here think bill clinton should have been impeached for his actions...i mean he did commit adultry in the white house...and his decisions affected everyone...right?

I read your longer post as well. I see ALL the points you have made here as well. However he had 2 parents - the mom was well aware of what her husband did at night and she CHOOSE to keep her child in that situation. Again why does all the blame go on Susan? She is now soley responsible for the inner demons she has supposedly caused her child. I don't agree with that.
That is why I state the person who leaked the info to the press before Steve was even off the property to be attacked by media crews should have been fired. Gee that person breached a confidential meeting but that is ok right?
This person was planning on taking a leave of absence - seriously don't you think he was going to speak to his child? He never had that chance - his kid found out from the media, due to a city offical leaking confidential information.

Call me whatever you wan't. I say the guy/girl is a freak (fag), not a person I would want my kid's looking up too.
He shoulda finished his term as the gender he was at time of application, after that he can do or be whatever he want's, then after he decide's what he want's to be we the people could elect or not elect this person.
