How many people are signed up to race the knobby class. I may be interested just wanted to see how much competition.
I am sure it is listed somewhere here but how many laps are the knobby class running and how many practices/races do we get?
Also, is there a class for my son? He has a ltz250

I need more info on your son...... age, skill, tires..... Feel free to pM if you would like.
You have to be registered to practice.

The turnout is expected to be big but one never knows for sure until race day. In the past there were alot of people who wanted to race but didn't have money for flat track tires and most tracks won't allow knobbies, Eastbay however does allow knobbies so now is the chance to get more people interested in circle track racing.
There will be one practice starting at 11am. The racing consists of two heats, 8 laps each, and then a main event which is 15 laps. Also there will be a youth class for your son.

My son is 12 years old. I just realized that he does not have a kill switch so I do not think I could enter him anyway. How many pre-entries do you have for the knobby class?
I am actually thinking about going but I have nothing for a set up. Probably would be pretty slow as a result.

All quads and trikes must have kill cords, you can get one from any ATV shop for about 25-30 bucks. Dont worry about being way off on setup since Eastbay should be forgiving since it has alot of banking.

I believe I will be entering in the knobby class
. I assume that I need a number plate correct? Also do I only need one on the grab bar or do I need some on the front?

Yes two plates minimum, one front and one rear. Take a look at
www.southernflattrackleague.com
. There is a rules section along with racing procedures. I pasted some of them below.
Safety Equipment: Required: Over the ankle boots, long pants, helmet, goggles, chest protector (over or under the jersey),
gloves and Kill Switches will be mandatory starting the first race of the season. At any time a league official can ask you to
demonstrate that your switch is in good working order.
Number plates: Quads Must have a minimum of 4 Number plates.
The mandatory mounting locations are both rear fenders, front of bike (bumper or hood) and the rear grab bar number, OR
your name and number on the back or your chest protector or jersey for those who wear the under the jersey
protectors. Numbers should be 6" or larger and LEGIBLE. No LETTERS other than "X" may be used.
*For the Eastbay race only two plates will be required.

No, on sport bikes and race bikes we are hitting speeds of 80MPH, at this track were running 60 in the corners.
For one, I dont think a utilty could keep up or handle as well, and second, Im afraid of what would happen if that 500lb machine connected with someone. not to mention rolled over on you.

Understood, although this 4x4 is the bombardier 800 and it has a top speed of 87 mph stock.

Top speed in a straight line right? I am definately in agreement with Hoosier on the Ute's..too much speed in the corners could create a bad situation and safety is always number one with the SFTL and the tracks we race at. Don't misunderstand, from a business point of view, the more the merrier, but racing has to stay as safe as possible.
