Ok well I guess since the owners are family of mine I will chime in. Yes you should have stayed out of the ST AUGUSTINE sodded front yard. The big hole right out in front of the camp is called "the gator hole" it is usually 6' deep in water & the owners son is usually in it on his quad as well, but it is usually underwater. These guys are some of the coolest guys with the best toys out there bar none. Go to the airboat & track show & look for "still killin time". As for the "no airboats' getting out there, you are way wrong. His boat will run out there on dry ground & back without sweating. But just to let you know his ful track is one of the fastest out there & yes it will outrun any quad you cold dream of taking out there. Yes if they came up on you, there would be a problem if they felt you were tearing things up & yes they would be really PISSED if they knew you were posting there camp on an open forum. BTW, Jim is 6'4" & goes 260lbs. That camp is theres & they are grandfathered in I can assure you of that 100%. That is why it is 2story & not 2000 sq ft single level. I hope you will take the time to remove all pics showing the camp. I am gonna forward this post to his email & I hope you all get to drink a cold beer sometime. But please remove the pics of the camp, because now every yahoo who has seen it wants to go there. That camp has survived many hurricanes & fires, but one jackazz vandal & thief can ruin it just from your pics. In closing, lets keep the holey lands holey & show respect to anyone who has built there camps out there to last for years to come. A lot of sweat & money is involved out there & A LOT of guys will fight for that camp, just be careful & always show respect & you will someday get a chance to party on that porch, drink cold beer & eat steaks with that crew.

Steve

Hey thanks for all the advice and perspective posted in this thread. I honestly forgot we have a big crowd here, and I'll bet 55% + would f**k the place up, and do donuts in the lawn in a heartbeat. I DID not ride on the beautiful lawn, I swear! I do most of my riding alone, and during the week . I rarely see what goes on over there at the Holey Lands when it is quad central.

I hope I got all the offensive ones gone yesterday, but feel free to tell me any more they want out..

Any pics of the camp & any kind of directions where you found it would be good. I do beleive you werent in the lawn & I beleive you had no intention of doing any harm, You as anyone else who sees it was probably in awe of the place. It also has electric doors like walmart to get in/out. It is probably the nicest camp in the glades owned by some of the best people. Good riding.

I didn't want to repsond to this post because I have never ridden out there and had nothing to offer.
Basically we have an individual who went out and had a great time riding, in his eyes he did nothing wrong and w/ a few people here who have been put on this planet just for the sole purpose of talking down to others to lift themselves up on a soapbox that really has no place in here.

Truthfully the guy made an error in judgement and reallizes it now and I would be willing to bet if he was sent a PM or an email from just one honestly concerned individual whether it be a family member or a friend of the Camp he would have made the proper adjustments to the post.
Instead the usual  happened and after one person made a reponse to his thread it turned into who knows who and another hey everybody, look at "ME" contest.

ATVFLORIDA.COM is or should be about brother/sisterhood and unity. Granted there will be the alleged moron and thats part of life but as a friend or a brother we all would respond a lot better to a private bash or redirection as it may than a public beating.

Guys and Gals I am not sure how many people are taking the May 19th Rally as serious as I, but we really have to pull together. Someone talked about those who are against us reading this site looking for ammo to use against us but I bet sometimes they read and celebrate the fact that we as a group implode  w/ in and will never evolve as a real community.
Now someone can say look at this guy, now he thanks he has the right to be on a soapbox and I appologize up front if it comes across that way.

I really would hate to show up to a ATV Rally and have to wonder who was that Forumn member that I pissed off and is he or she gonna come sucker punch me. I would like to show up and meet as many people I can bacause we all are on this forumn because of the LOVE we have for OUR SPORT/Hobby.
Ok, enough from me on this.

OK bboy, I never once threatened JackL. I actually gave some creedence to his pic of riding in the hole closest to the camp in which everyone blasted him for. I can guarantee you wont make it far in that "swamp" with your attitude. You on the other hand threaten to shoot someone with your dads 12ga. I clearly said I didnt think jackl meant any harm & came somewhat to his defense, but maybe you hillbillies from cocoa cant read or dont have the attention span to read the whole thread. Every time I see your name in a thread it is with ignorant sarcasm & insults or threats.

I think a big problem with this thread is a lot of people don't ride the area, and took the pictures out of context. The rest seem to think our days at the Holey lands WMA are numbered, and any thing perceived as negative gets pounced on.

Me, I'm just glad I didn't post the pictures from Macs last week...Smiley Yes I did see and talk to a FWC guy there, and wouldn't recommend it, unless you been around a LONG time and know whats what.

The whole mud scene is way different from my perspective, because I ride mostly during the week when no one is around.  I often forget this hobby isn't just for us FLcrackers any more.

Everyone be safe this weekend, and hope to see some of you out at the Holey lands today/tonight. You know my bike and cooler now, feel free to come over and punch me, or have a drink.

I was out there on Friday with MY KIDS. 6 & 9 yr old.  Funny thing is we rode straight to that camp without any knowledge of it or bad intentions.  I saw it on the horizon & went for it.  NO, we didn't enter the yard we actually turned around 200 yards away.  My point is these CAMPS are not exactly fenced off or identified with clear cut boundaries.  I can see that they must get alot of CURIOUS riders that come by or even in the yard.  I know logic would have you figure that where the sawgrass ends & the grass begins would be a clue.  It's a very nice looking camp!!  I can't imagine what the mosquito count is like in the middle of JULY Gosh

As JackL said, the conditions are right for riding in Holeyland & it is still LEGAL to ride there.  Enjoy & clean up some trash, the buzzards can't seem to keep up with it Grin

Wow! You're retarded aren't you? I'm with greenmachine in that every time you post, it's incredibly infantile. That's pretty much all that needs to be said about you. Now go to your room.

Inyourdraft - I know your post was directed at me, so I'll respond. I don't get on a soapbox. It's just that I have the intestinal fortitude to speak up. If you feel as if you're being talked down to, sack up and get over it. JackL and I have aired it out, he recognized what he did was wrong and took care of it. If and (hopefully) when we meet to ride together, I'll be the first to shake his hand and offer him a cold drink. No hard feelings, no issues, no problems.

In out sport, perception verses actuality is much more important. It takes very little to ruin things for us in any given location. It's not about crackers, rednecks, yankees, whites, blacks, cubans, indians, purple people, etc. It's about the ATV community as a whole and how we are perceived by the masses. Currently, they (the masses) do not like us. Each time we ride we need to act as if we're under the public microscope so that the impression we make is positive.

"Sack up and get over it"
Well I guess I should not be shocked over that remark.

"Wow! You're retarded aren't you?"
"Whats wrong w/ you Angry"

And many more can be added to your arsenal of responses but you can call it intestinal fortitude and sleep at night. Thats why I said you talk down to people, use all that education you seem to have and speak to people w/ a little respect.

"No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care" Think on that and dont be so shallow w/ it....
Grin I am easy going bro, you dont have to impress me w/ your intimidating comments, however you do impress me w/ some of the knowledge you bestow upon us in here. Be cool! Cool

Anoriginal is correct...ATVs in south Florida is dying out with no place to ride. We can't afford to give any of these people any more reasons to keep us out of areas that we are allowed to ride. We already lost a lot of the areas that they would turn a blinds eye and just let you have fun. We, as ATV riders, are looked at as a menace...Here is an article of a fire that broke out in Lehigh, they do not know the cause of this fire but they are quick to mention ATVers as a possible cause.

“It could come from anything,” said Ken Mulvey, a Division of Forestry firefighter. “It could be a cigarette, a match or just one of these kids on an ATV.”

http://www.news-press.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070327/NEWS0103/70327003/1075

I agree that this could have been handled a little different, maybe some IM's, maybe not being so defensive, But we all agree that we need to watch each others back....Keep riding, and ride safe...

I can't think of one LEGAL riding area we have ever lost. McNab got built and was never legal in the first place. Fern Forest got sold and turned into a park, Lost Lake was never legal. Hollywood sporto and that cool bar were victims of progress....Sawgrass expressway kill a favorite of mine....ok, Holiday park we lost...don't think ATV's were the cause though.

A blind eye, and LEGAL are miles apart. Blind eye equals trespassing, and lawsuit happy transplants are what ruined that for us, not pictures or trash.

South of 41 in the glades, Picayune, Webb, St. Johns, Goethe, the addition lands in the Glades, Deep Lake, etc. All of these were WMA's that at one time allowed ATV use and now either do not or strictly limit them.

This is what I meant by defensive. My point was to watch each others back, that we (ATVers) as a whole are going to be attacked for every little thing that happens.  I also posted an article as an example. You are right about the trespassing areas but now that the Blind eye areas are shut down we are all being confined to a few areas that are legal, the limits to these areas are diminishing and the pictures of trash doesn't help...  Ask Bounty.  There are a lot of people out there that doesn't like you (or I for that matter) just because of your ATV, in their opinion we do not follow rules and only create destruction to the environment and other peoples property. We as a whole need to show more positives of our activity to try to change some minds. I believe some people's mind can be changed, hell, look at Harley's at one time anyone that rode one where looked at as part of a bike gang that brought about destruction and violence. Now it's looked at as a nice recreational activity for many, young and old. These post are by no means meant as attacks, I learn a lot from these post and hope others can also.  So...Let's keep looking out for each other and keep this activity fun for all.

rednipj ,
Good post, I would bet that the Harley riders stuck together like a brotherhood too. We here in the ATV world can do it as well.
I am looking foreward to the ATV Rally, New people and we can put a face to a name and it will help us grow a tighter bond.
"Build it and they will come" We are the pioneers, all others before us were not faced w/ this problem and we have a chance to create our future and for generations to come....... Wink

Now you know none of these were lost due to the current issues. They have always hated off roding here in S. Florida, but tolerated it when we built our buggies and rode our trikes....far from their homes.
Development is the real enemy here....and transplants that want everything like back home.
Hunters share the blame 50/50 IMO. Chasing down deer and running them over with airboats hardly makes most people think anyone should be allowed out there in da swamp....

BTW: The camps in my last pictures are NOT the best ones out there either!! I'm keeping the new ones to myself!!! Even if my new thread suffers because of it. Smiley
