Went out there Yesterday 4/17, my first time, it is really a nice place, got to ride about 1 1/2 hours before the cops told us we couldn't park where we were, he never said we had to leave the area, just we couldn't park where we parked which was like an abandoned cul da sac, he said you have to park off the road and the cul da sac was a road. He said we would consider this warning petty, he was pretty nice, but he never gave us a clear idea on where we could park. Do you have to go hide in the woods somewhere?

So where does everyone park that they allow it?

There were alot of folks out there, this could be my new best place!!

You pretty much have to park behind the tree line, so they cannot see you. See if this map will help you, if not try www.northportoffroad.com.

So do you know of any good spots? We made left right after we crossed under I75, went back there parallel to the power lines. Lots of people riding along the lines but I see on your map it is marked red to stay away, is that true?

Thanks

Flsnake, we were out there Saturday and were followed in by the 50.(Really cool guy). He said they are going to step up patrol out there next month, lot more road patrol and running people off... Our time out there is very limited.. We camped out Saturday.. not that many people there.. Sunday was another story. But NPPD was on patrol...We also know someone that owns property out there so we park on his property and they don't mess with us.. Duff own alot of the property by the mud pit and there is a tresspass for his property and they also got a guy from miami that own over 1900 lots and he also has Tresspassing for his.. Really have to be carefull. 05greengriz is right alot of us from northportoffroad get together down there have to check out our sight.. We get together for campouts and stuff..

We saw some people who looked like they were camping out there on Sunday, it was kinda at the end of the road when you take that 1st left past I75, was that your group?

Might have been we had a brown popup camper.  Ya back there is  Wink Just make sure your tires are off the road or you'll get a ticket.. The Sergent know's us and knows not to mess with us when we are back there... We know are time is pretty limited to be ridin there.. We were told that they are going to start hiring a bunch of officers so those rookies will be out in force with in the next 5 years.

What's the scoop on all that property? Did someone go belly up or something?

How did all that property get in that condition, it looks like someone started to develop a subdivision and then abandoned it. Do you know they story on it?
No biggie, more curious than anything, would be nice to pickup a lot in there if they were selling for cheap.

They were all part of General Development which went bankrupt many years ago.  You probably can't get a cheap lot in there anymore since everything in North Port has gone up, even though there is no power and the area will likely be abandoned for a few more years.

No.
General Development built roads from Venice all the way down to Naples from what I hear.  Lehigh Acres is east of Ft Myers.

I'm not sure Saturday is better than Sunday, during the week it's empty out there.  They go thru phases where they patrol heavy for a couple of weeks then they are hardly around for a while...it's a crap shoot.
