Well, everyone has been asking for this for a long time. The day has finally arrived. A new statewide ATV association has launched. There is no cost to join and I encourage everyone to sign up. There's Strenght in numbers. Think of all the changes we can accomplish if we all work together. Thank you for taking a look at this....Rick

 Grin, ,,,
It was not a question to suggest anyone was crooked. The concern was would the info be available in a profile or is it stored privately.
My apologies to those who took the question the WRONG way.....have an outstanding day! Kiss

I have a concern regarding the registration info.... Who all has access to the info as for our physical address and phone #'s that are required to join.
I would like to join but do not want to give out an invitation for someone to come and rob me. Sorry to be that way but in this day in age you can not be to secure and safe. Thanks
They only want your address, e-mail address and tel number, no other personal information.

I agree that security on the internet is a valid concern nowadays, but that form is not really intrusive at all, there are no ATV member associations I could find that do not require at the very least simple contact information like a name and an address to join. All the form is asking for is contact information. PO box is fine, cell phone number is fine.

Most require date of birth, credit card or bank information etc.. Not looking for any of that.

The idea is to have a membership base of real people, not fictitious screen names like on a forum.  The information is not going to be divulged.  An address is required to send any newsletters and other things of that nature, that are to be developed at a later date.

The board members are still under consideration, but I can tell you that Dreth has volunteered to be the treasurer, I can't imagine there are too many people on this site who don't trust him.

I just joined.  It would be great for the website to have a counter showing the number of members on the home page.

I would gladly join if there was some sort of privacy statement.  I'm more concerned about junk in my mailbox and jackasses on my telephone than I am of somebody knowing where I live (use the phone book;  duh! - or follow me home from the trails).  Create a privacy statement and I'm in.

i can appreciate some of these concerns but please remember that this has been created for us , by us, and to help us. the assosiation will not in any way knowingly hurt what we are trying to build. thanks for pointing out security features for us to explore.

I want to point out that my concern was honest. I was in NO way trying to imply that anyone was crooked.
The point was that if our info that we enter was going to be public or not.
"example"  We are all Enthusiast of this sport, some one later on says hey, if we want to go steel some bikes I know where to find all the info necassary info to find them, we can just go to the ATVFlorida Association and snag some addresses off the members profiles or what ever, If we are memebers of this kind of web site then surely we might have an ATV or 2 at the address posted. Does that make sense to anyone..............
Shawn aka Dreth is good people and I know he would not surround himself w/ losers who steel and all that, I only ask a question about it so that I would know whether or not I wanted to enter the required info to join or not.
Once again, my apologies to those who misconstrude my genuine concern. Thanks guys and have a great day... Wink

No Offense Taken. you did bring up something that was overlooked. This is about teamwork, and that's an example of it. because of you bringing this up, a privacy statement was created and that in itself probably brought in more people....Thank you
