Thanks Brady & Ray for understanding our concerns and working with us with our kids in the youth class, we appreciate it!!
Im sure your not happy with the way the league officals handled it. But you should know the rules for the Youth class before the race, just because you wanted to play by different rules in the middle of the game isnt the leagues fault.
Did I say I wasn't happy? NO. Did I blame the league? NO. Re-read my post - You may want to brush up on your reading skills. We handled it through the TRACK OWNER.....NOT the LEAGUE officials...know your sh*t before you start anything. Points ain't worth my child's safety, that's why we decided to pull our kids out of the league race.
Why make up a screen name just to start stuff, if you had any balls you'd have said it to my face last night! I know who you are and you had no right being in the YOUTH PARENTS meeting....you don't have a kid in the youth class. My team didn't call the parents meeting, we had no reason too. We had already pulled our kids out of the race by that time and the track officials wanted our kids to race in their own sub-youth class.
You and your little group have no sportsmanship. If you ain't got sportmanship you ain't got nothing!!!! It seems like you all love to start the bull every time you show up.
See ya in Jasper

The main thing we all need to concentrate on is letting the kids have FUN. That is all the kids want. All we need to do is be there for them to make sure it is safe.
Thank you, that's all we care about too, safety and fun and yes all the kids want to do is race and have fun

Sounds like a great night of racing. Our kids are missing some flat track action so we are going to do some more soon. We miss all the great people at the track.
We are doing MX right now and its a lot more keep to your self type racing and when your winning at MX it not congrats its bickering form the parents. When kids are involved it need to be fun win or lose and we found that out flat tracking with the southern flat track league they keep it fair and fun. The kids still have fun no matter what we race its the kids parents.
Congrats to everyone race safe

Man! I come in to work and the first thing I see is a PM about this.
First off, since this was a league race you should have come to a league official, not the track owner.
After all this was a league points race not a T bowl points race and all your riders are all league members. I explained everything to Todd Sat night and he completely understood. The youth class isn't based on experience but rather age and bike size. If all the racers fit that profile than thats where they go. If its an experience class you want then the Novice class is where they should go. That class is for the "newer" riders. If you think they don't have enough experience for that class maybe they need more practice time before you sign them up in a points driven racing league. There will be no new points classes then what we have already listed for this season. Next season we might consider a change.
Now for all these unsportsman like issues, In short, I will be holding riders responsible for their "crew" actions. We had a 6 year old hear a comment last race when a woman, telling another woman to stick something somewhere (I was less graphic) NOT GOOD! It ends now for all parties involved. This is supposed to be a family league. I would hope everyone would agree that I don't pick sides or favor any one rider more than another. Penalties will be handed down equally regardless if I've known you for a while or we have just met.
This will be discussed in more detail at the meeting in Jasper. Lets race and have fun guys this is what this league was created for...

How do you think I felt when I read someones comment blasting us on here for no reason? My post was in no way out of line, Racergirl's on the otherhand was.
Chris, Todd did talk to you about it and we had no problems with the rules, that's why we pulled them out of the league race. We were packing up their gear when we were told they will still be able to race, with no league points, which is not a problem. The kids don't care about the points all they want to do is ride and have fun. Yes, we sigend them up in the league for 2 reasons, 1) Travel to new tracks for experience and 2) to support the league. We already have riders in other classes attending the league races, so why not have them all attend. The problem is when you have Intermediate riders out on the track with "new riders" that age wise qualify for the youth class, but don't have the experience that an Intermediate or even Novice rider has. They are a lot more aggressive than the youger kids are, that will come in time for these little guys. I know you can understand where we are coming from. It would almost be like putting an Open rider in the Novice class. Open riders are wide open, more aggressive, therefore more accidents may happen. Again, we had no problem with the decision you had made and we moved on from there, we were over it issue resolved. Then someone decided to call a "Youth Parents Meeting" to hash it out, I don't know why cuz the issue was already resolved. There were adults there who did not have kids involved in that class who told our kids they needed to be disqualified, that's NOT KOOL to directly go off on 11 year old kids.
I don't understand why someone has to start arguments every time there is a league race. Ride fair, race fair and there won't be any issues. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to comprehend that. Everyone out there, kids and adults, want to have fun.
I agree that riders should be penalized for their "crew's" actions/behavior in the pits. Heck Nascar does it to the drivers when their crew cheifs screw up. But before any penalties are handed out, get both sides and know exactly what happened, what started it and go from there.

I hear what your saying, but to be super clear on this. Riders cannot move between the open, interm, and novice classes. If thats happening I need to know ASAP. However in the Youth, Vets, and ladies (if we ever get one) are open to everyone who fits that profile. (open riders can race in interm as long as they are on two different bikes)
heres an example..
There is a 15yo girl who rides a Ltz400. Shes a VERY good rider and races the Open class, she can still race the Ladies and Youth class because she fits both profiles. She CANT race the Vets, Interm or Novice.
I cant make up a new class for everyone who wants one. We would end up with 50 classes with 2-3 bikes in each one. I know Christian doesnt make it to all the races because of his FFA deal and Ricks boy doesnt make it because of Ricks deal at T bowl. So it will work it self out in the long run. .
Trust me, If there is an issue with someone pit crew it wont be a knee jerk reaction and it will be fair regardless of who it was.
I dont want to hijack bradys thread any longer...
Todd has my number you guys are free to call me anytime and we can see what we can do. Theres always options....

First of all, I think many of you think that I posted under the racergirl screen name. Which I did not! I was upset about the situation because I felt that my little brother was being attacked. But would never have gone on here and blasted your group of racers. It’s not my personality. Did I think what happened Saturday was in any way fair or cool…no…but I certainly did not want to stir the pot. (Which is why I am hesitant about posting this.) But I want to clear a few things up.
As far as safety in youth class…I could see your concern if someone was racing overly aggressive or even totally dominating the class. Saturday night, this was not case. Christian and Justin (and Jon I think) were behind your racers in the first heat. I thought the first heat was a great race. Very clean! So why not just let the youth race and have fun under the rules and guidelines given (the rules were, after all, created by track and league officials with safety being their #1 concern). There were only racers there between the ages of 11 and 14. Not a big age difference at all.
We have been racing for years at various tracks. I can remember when Christian was one of the youngest in the youth class at SandMountain (along with Justin Palmer). Heck, at that time there were racers riding and dominating both the youth and open classes on the same bike. But they raced within the guidelines (age and cc limit). He raced at our discretion and we knew the rules before we signed him up for the class. That was my only point Saturday night (that rules can't be changed in the middle of race...especially on a points night). Never did I use fowl language or gestures towards you or your kids. I think they are not only great kids but also great riders.
On a side note…the lady keeping score is the one who called the meeting. She had DQ’ed your kids because they didn’t race the second heat and she was trying to get the situation figured out. So please don’t point the finger my direction.
I agree with you Chris. In a perfect world this is what I would like to see happen at league events.
1. I would like to see racing return to a fun family friendly event.
2. I would like to see less drinking at the track. I just don’t feel it’s the time or place with all the kids running around. It seems to have gotten out of hand.
3. I would like to see profane language and gestures banned. Again, too many kids at the track for these types of actions to take place. To me, this should include what is posted on this forum (kids read it too).
4. I would like to see rules taken seriously. No bending, breaking, and/or changing to suit your own needs.
5. I would like to see people have more regard/respect for the league, league officials and league rules especially on a points night.
Lisbeth

I am not a member of the SFTL, but I feel this is the main reason why I don't own a racing quad. It seems the SFTL is geared toward family fun and that is awesome, and I also hope that everyone that attended drag races at Saltsdale thought the same. I tried to take extra time and let the kids drag race as much as possible, because they are the future. I have sold my quad last year and got into competeing at Jack Russell Trials because my wife LOVES dogs. And I have to say, at first we did not know anyone and it was soo much fun as a family, we were not that competetive. We have been doing it for a year now and I can't believe how many people do it as a business instead of family fun. I hate to say it, but when competition is involved you are going to have people that do it for fun and people that take it way to serious. Comments not directed towards anyone and it seems that the SFTL is doing a great job keeping it family fun.

We always had a great time at Saltsdale. Those kiddos use to fly! Even the kids that were 11+ riding in the adult classes (since there were not enough of them to have their own class) use to kick butt! I use to love watching Scooter and Gary battle it out in the 400 class. Its funny…even now…they still have the same bikes and are still battling it out on the track! In fact it was at Saltsdale that we met the Ware's and got into Flat Tracking with them at Dade City. I too can't believe how many nice people we have met over the years despite the competitve nature of racing!

I appreciate your response. I don't like posting with an attitude, but when someone posts something like Racergirl did, I am not going to sit back and not respond. I was very upset last night after reading that, it was not kool at all.
In no way did we or any of our team parents try to bend or change any rules, WE dropped our kids. I agree with you, you don't change the rules, period.
I do have a legitimate question for you, because nobody would answer my question Sat. nite. Has Christian ran in an Intermediate class or Novice previously? It sounds as though he has been racing for years, correct? If so, why would he or his parents want to drop down 1-2 classes to run? The reason I am asking is we were told by another person that he is an Intermediate rider. The rules may allow you to do that, but why would you want to? My son is able to run in the Pee Wee class on a cc appropriate bike, but he doesn't feel like it is right, he is more experienced than that. Do you think the parents of the Pee Wee riders would be concerned if there were all of the sudden 3, 11 year olds dropping out of the Youth class to ride in the Pee Wee class? I know I would be concerned and I would ask these very same questions, why move down a class. I do not want to argue, I just want to know honestly how others would feel.
The main reason we got in this is for because our kids and friends kids wanted to race. When we started last September it has been nothing but a blast for our kids out there and us, BUT there have been a few incidences where people have started a controversy with our team and it only happened at league races at T-Bowl. Any other time we have raced there, we've had no problems, just fun. I don't understand why. We don't start anything, we race clean, and don't protest anything. All we have wanted to do is get out there and have fun. We haven't had the chance to try out other tracks, but had planned to this season.

We too like a lot of you all have made some great friends at T-bowl. We look forward to seeing these folks each and everytime we go to the track. As I said before, we've only been racing since September and have met some awesome people. We have gained a lot of knowledge about flat tracking through these people and we really appreciate that. We share equipment, oil, gas, etc. with anyone who asks, and we too, do the same with others. That's another part of racing, creating bonds with other teams.

Dang! i cant seem to stay out of this thread..
A few points.... the youth class isnt a move down, its just another class. Christian raced interm last year, he could race it this year if he wanted to as well as youth.
Your kids cant race peewee its 11 and under, meaning if they are 10yr and 364days old, they can race for one more day then they are done and there isnt to many 9-11 year olds on less than 80cc bikes and as of right now there is no A class unless Dreth and Daves boy joins the league again.
Last read the bold about the peewee class..
Peewee* (11 yrs and under)
a. 80-150 CC
b. less than 80 CC
*At the leagues' discretion a Peewee rider may be reclassed based on
rider ability despite CC size.

I just posed a question to see how other parents would feel. Our kids would never go for the Pee Wee class even if they if they were able to,because you're right, not too many kids that age would race an 80cc bike. I just wanted to make a point and get an opinion.
I know Youth is just another class (specialty). What I was trying to say was, why if someone has already raced in Intermediate or Novice (meaning they are experienced now), want to go to a Youth class? (unless their bike is broke and they have a bike that qualifies to ride in the youth class, totally understandable) You'd think they would want to stay with those who ride like them so that they can have the competition and learn. Some of the other parents were asking that same question Sat. night.

I feel this question is not legitimate instead its very out of line and again pointing fingers and attacking Christian (who is still just kid out there to have fun and race). But I will answer you even though Chris has already mentioned that the rules for the youth class are not based on experience but rather age and cc limits. If you don't feel comfortable having your kids race under those rules and regualtions that's your choice. But please don't attack or point fingers at a child who is, after all, following the rules given. Christian has raced in other classes (as have several of the other youth riders). There are several reasons why he is racing in the youth class.
1. He is only 14. (Which meets the age requirement)
2. He is using his warrior as a flat track bike (it would not be competitive in any other class). The bike he rode last season is now set up for the motorcross track at Dade City since is racing in their series as well. (Which meets the cc requirements)
The only other controversy my husband and I have been involved with at T-bowl is when my husband (Gary) was given the finger (actually several) coming off of the track.

I am not attacking anyone, simply asking a question. Nobody is ponting fingers. I saw Christian race for the first time Sat. nite, and I think he is a great rider, just as Jon, John and Justin are.
As for getting out of line, the only person getting out of line was whoever Racergirl is. If stirring the pot is what she, or whoever wanted, that is what she got. Why hasn't that person jumped back into this conversation?
If you are accusing me of giving your husband the finger you are sadly mistaken. If you are not, then no big deal.
Even though it seems as though you want to argue over this, I am not going to play the game. As I stated in my previous post, just asking a question (hypothetical), not trying to argue, attack, or point fingers. I don't get on this thread to argue with people, I get on to converse with people, talk about how well the races went, etc.

OK here is question for n-tense motorsports. What is the difference in Bud riding Open and Intermediate to Christian riding Youth and Interm? There isn't a difference they are both great riders and Bud is able to race both classes b/c he does so on 2 different bikes. Christian is riding a Warrior in the youth class and last year he rode his 450 in the intermediate. I don't see how you say Christian has moved down a class b/c isn't that is what Bud has done. You cant sit there and say Christian has moved down a class b/c he hasn't and if it where true is that not what Bud has done as well. I don't see the problem w/ either riding where they are due to the fact that both are following the RULES, so let it go and let these kids race.
If everyone keeps fighting about this sooner or later its going to make it not fun for the kids and they will just quite so they don't have to deal w/ all the tension. Lets just let them be kids and race.
