PIT
« on: May 26, 2005, 07:22:54 PM »

Where is that pit in ONF (the one in the new movie)? I always park right where the pavement meets the dirt seven Miles from Big Scrub. I've been to Blue Sink and the pit to the left but where is that pit? It looks like it suits my style much better as I ride Dirtbikes and need some jumps.

ill tell u how to get there...if im right the paved road where it meets the dirtroad is what i seen today...i went up there today and i just got home about 15 minutes ago i have a dirtbike and i seen the pit u are talking about....it is about 2 or 3 miles south down 588 where the paved road meet the dirtroad....but i dont know for sure if this is what ur talking about because this big pit has a gate thing that blocks it....it wasnt locked, it was wide open and i walked in there and checked it out and it looked like people rode there and there were some fresh tracks there but i didnt want to take the chance and ride there and get in trouble.... but if thats what your talking about ive seen it and it looks pretty crazy to ride at....

It is the Eureka Dam Pit in the movie.

Coordinates >N29 22.738 W81 53.328

Heading west on Rd 316 make right onto rd 301 or the last road before you go over a HUGE bridge. Then just about a half mile down on left should be the road to the pit Grin

you can ride threw the trails to get there(pm chris505 he did it from rodman)or you could go there and unpack. Now for the legal part if you ride in the trails and in the pit yes its legal now if you go in the place where the video you get a fine for $70.00 if they get you.Imo the pit that is legal to ride in has great  hills and all.But if your more of the trail kinda rider you gotta explore to find trails that go more that a 1/2 mile.

So just to get this straight are there any big hills and jumps in the legal area? The reason I was so interested was becaue the terrain looked sweet. Also I am looking for a track with a good trail system for my Father and his Grizzly 660. Know of any central FL tracks with some nice trails?

Cool, ya I already left. It was a nice day HOT. They put up a new rope swing at Blue Sink so that was refreshing. I found a pit down by Big Scrub but I was alone so I didn't venture down for fear of not being able to get out. There were alot of trees in the bottom all broken down. Can't wait to check out that pit, that one hill in the Early ONF movie looked like a nice tabletop.

Kicking, I have a house up there. I go up on weekends. Will you be there this weekend? If so maybe we could meet up and I'll show you the way. Rodman to Eureka is prob 15 miles.

O.k. just read the old thread. Now which one of the two PITs are legal to ride in? Also is the turn off before you get to the Dam turn off or after?

I'll get with ya at the end of the week and set up something. I've been looking for someone to ride with. My wife and kids ride with me but its getting too hot to ride in first gear all the time. It was extremely dusty until the rain monday night, Tuesday it was great, no dust just a few puddles.

Pit on the right is legal. The turn off is just before the bridge heading west.

No problem ask all the questions u want Wink  It should easily keep you busy a while. If you get bored there is a trail on the right before you pull into the pit on that same road that will take you across the main road you came in on and there are miles of trails there to.
