It's time to bring back the military draft!

I think it's time to start up the draft again.  Here we are in a small war in Afghanistan and a larger one in Iraq and we are out of troops.  Many times in the last few months we here of the troop shortages and now there calling for more troops in Iraq and we don't know where the troops will come from.  If we are really in a war on terror (I believe we are) as GW says then we will need more troops sooner or later.  It could take at least a year to revamp the draft and get troops trained so we need to start now.

The Israeli's have mandatory military service for its population and it works for them.  They complete there military training and a short stint in the military and they go back to civilian life until needed then they can recall them as needed.  Now Israel is a lot smaller country than the United States and must do it this way in order to survive.  With our war on Terror we could end up needing a large number of troops in a short time frame if some of the rogue states like Iran or North Korea get a wild hair.  Radical Islam has declared war on the west and we need to be prepared this would also send a message to any of our enimies that we are in this war until the end.

Spinless liberals huh, I quess you didn't read my post on "Political Post" thread that said we can discuss politics if we don't revert to name calling and childish banter.  Anyway Nancy Pelosi has only been in office for less than 3 days and its her fault that we can't get 20,000 more troops for Iraq, I think NOT.  The fact is the only reason the military has even come close to fulfilling its requirments is that it lowered the requirements of incoming troops, meaning they take just about anyone who volunteers now.  The military has also got to the point of giving large bonuses for those who resign.

I'm sorry for those that would get drafted but if we don't gear up for the fight now it will be too late later.  I know your only 15 and are not worried about having a future family at this time but after a while you will and who will protect them?  Give up a little now so the world can be a safer place later.  One last thing, I am in my 40s, 46 to be exact but trust me I have a lot more than a few more years to work and yes I like to golf but if you look at my screen name FishaHallic you will know that if I'm gonna sit back and do anything it will be FISH  .

I joined the Marines and I'm in 12th grade, I leave for boot camp on June 4th.  Currently I'm very enthusiastic and I'm ready to get out of here and see some things and do some growing up. 
As for the draft, if it's needed, then it's needed, there's nothing to argue about.  If you're that scared of helping defend the country a bit, then run off to Canada and stay there.

Everybody that signs up for the military and everyone that is curretly deployed in Iraq is there by their own will. As far as the spinless liberal thing, I didnot say that you were a spinless liberal. I said the congress was. Even quite a few republicans. Thats the main reason we lost the house and senate. I agree with you there.  There are people that just don't like the idea of joining the military, and there's nothing wrong with that, it's a personality thing or whatever.  I'm not to crazy about going to college, but I'll end up with my degree eventually, it's just one of those things.

When enough people that want to be there join, and it saves the non-joiners the trouble with the draft, then that's the win-win situation.  But if there comes a time for the draft, what can I tell you, I'm not in control of how many people join the military or which wars we fight.  Hopefully there won't be a draft so that everyone can continue with the lives they want to live.

So there is no man in the kids life to teach them. I did , I've been serving over 18 years, I've missed countless birthdays , wedding ann, xmas and other holiday's, and currently serving oversea's at this time. Stop crying and grow up
