i expected the same uneducated replies from you. you are called little eichman. read the book. whats your input about the soldier that is refusing to go to iraq. i just read it the other day, says he joined back when we were supposedly give the impression of a weapons of mass destruction presence. i think the only presence we wanted was one of us in a oil rich country. if we want to fight for rightousness, lets go to africa and fight for the people being mutilated there. its a whole lot worse there than iraq. but they do'nt have oil so f' em right? get informed before you judge{ and i mean the whole big story} i think we should all sit here and make our borders 200 times more secure. all that money we spent in iraq would have protected our borders a whole more. how much have we spent there compared to what we have spent securing our borders? thats what i thought

my ex  was in afganastan and she said  that there over there with the afganis putting them in prisons and fedding them and giving them shelter , wtf , my cousin desert storm, and desert sheild veteran  special forces ranger , hes seen alot of chit and killed alot of those afganis  , he told me that they would try to lick u just to give u there dieses and he would shoot them, theres to many idiots over there that think that the afganis are there to help them , are solders have the afganis doing chit for them  like painting there guns camo, washing there clothes, cleaning there guns, and other stuff like that , and its also a lack of training from our goverment, my ex was in for four years, afganastan vet and korean vet , combat stripes and all plus a couple medals,  its bull chit,  im proud of are solders over there i just wish they would get it over with and get back home safely  , but are leader wants to stay over there, honestly i think we should train prisoners over there to fight on the front lines and un crowd our prison system and stop letting  the guilty go free and the innocent go in,  all i can say is send the prisoners over there and let them fight at least well get our moneys worth out of them instead of costing us billions of dollars every year in taxes

The best response on this thread so far in my opinion.  I don't necessarily agree with the motive or the strategy, but is was now or later, it was inevident.  It was going to happen.  I do feel that this country is alot more secure because the clear message has been sent.  If you don't like my response, keep scrolling down the page, because I refuse to get in a political debate on an open forum.

Okay, Yayhoo.  Generally speaking, I like to stay clear of geniuses like you.  How quaint that you picked up a book, managed to finish reading it, succumbed to the author's propaganda and now found yourself a soapbox to profess your newfound 'wisdom.'  Each and every soldier serving willingly chose to go into harm's way.  That is the other side of the deal; join the service, learn a trade or have your college paid for, and in return, you serve in the nation's military.  It's that simple.  Everybody there is there of their own choice and accord.  And don't give me any of your snot-nosed tripe about financial status.  Minorities and financially challenged citizens of this country have a cornucopia of scholarships, grants and financial aid packages available to them to attend any college they wish merely because of their position in life.  The sad thing is that much of this money goes unused and is unavailable to the wealthy that you so quickly chastise.

The war in Iraq and the situation in the Middle East is far more complicated than terrorism and WMDs.  It's mostly about oil and who controls it.  You have to keep in mind the history of oil in the Middle East to understand what the motives are.  It was Western countries that discovered and developed the oil fields.  Billions of dollars and pounds were spent to create this extraordinary wealth for the Iraqis, Saudis and Iranians.  The indignation arose because the leaders of these countries kept the wealth for themselves and their cronies and did little to improve the standard of living for their nations as a whole.  What wealth did filter down remained within religious sect lines, furthering the inflamatory situation.  The have-nots came to regard their situation as the result of the West's (particularly the United States) fault having enabled and supported their corrupt leaders.  As these goverments were overthrown (don't forget how Saddam came to power in Iraq and what happened to the Shaw in Iran), the deals that had been struck for our supply of oil (like it or not, that's how this economy runs) were in jeopardy.  While we initially were allies of Iraq, Saddam eventually came to realize that oil was a pretty good bargaining chip, and like anybody else, you can never have too much of a good thing.  He clearly set his eyes on controlling all of the Middle East and set out to accomplish it by first taking Kuwait (who Iraq already had a long-standing conflict with), then Saudi Arabia before setting his eyes back on Iran.  The world in general, particularly the West, could not afford to allow the supply of oil to fall into one man's hands, particularly one as ruthless as Saddam.  Whether or not WMDs were ever found, there was no doubt Saddam was attempting to obtain them.  Remember the nuclear reactor he was building that Israel took out so he would not have access to fissionable materials?  You may say the reactor was for power generation but who needs a nuclear reactor for power generation when you already own a third of the world's supply of oil and have the Tigris and Euphrates river to create hydroelectric power?  You need it to build a nuclear weapon.  Iran obtaining a nuclear reactor was as much geography as it was politics.  Any attack on Iran would be seen as a threat to Russia and China as well since they are the primary consumer of Iranian oil.  The sheer distance from Tel Aviv makes it nearly impossible for Israel to make any type of pre-emptive strike and the Iranian shores of the Persian Gulf are lined with Chinese Silkworm anti-ship missles, making an attack from an aircraft carrier a suicidal event for all involved.  The situation is very complicated and if you believe for a second that a Democratically controlled US goverment is going to get us out of there, you are sadly mistaken.  You will quickly hear the same rhetoric; we must finish the job we began.  The job is securing the financial future of the United States.

You lament the deaths of 3,000 warriors over the last 5 years and predict the death of 500 more in the coming months.  If you care so much about human life, why aren't you screaming about the 40,000+ deaths on our nation's highways EVERY YEAR!!  Get your head out of your ass.  Why don't you do a little more research (that means reading more books that don't have pictures in them) before jumping on somebody's bandwagon?  Why don't you try something really novel like reading an opposing viewpoint?  It's better than going into a public forum and proving you don't have a clue.
