I received very very sad news yesterday about another young life lost in our sport. I know that we can always look back and say, "well if......" that will not bring that young boy back, and as a parent I cant even imagine such a thing. Unfortunately this seems to be at least a twice a month incident every month. I am an honest believer that if we had a "LEGAL" riding areas, these accidents would not happen as often. I want you to ponder this for a moment. We live in a state where they are spending 8 Billion dollars to pay back Jeb Bush's Political contributors, however they cannot give us 1 acre of land to play with our kids.

The State of Florida, dept of agriculture, had submitted an ORV plan to USFWS to give the atv'rs 2200 acres in the Picayune State forest(the BLocks, Naples, Fl) USFWS shut it down saying" Human activity is second to restoration". Then the State of Florida proposed a second ORV plan , this one is calling for 22 miles of trails, which are already there and marked and they shut it down saying that we will bother the panther!

Here's where I really get off on this, We bother the panther, However according to the USFWS Enviromental Impact report, the majority of panther activity is in and around the Florida Panther Preserve(Northwest corner of i-75 and US 29). USFWS and SFWMD have given approval to a 25,000 home community called
"Big Cypress" that backs right into the Florida Panther preserve. I know those homes wont bother anyone.

Here's the contact info for the person, it's up to you whether you want to call or not. I believe that we need a huge protest against these folks and show them that we are fed up with protecting the dirt and not the KIDS....Rick
