Went riding out at he holey lands (11-6) yesterday. Man it is wet.
Ran into some cool guys who hooked us up with flags, good thing since FWC was around and mean. They said they all got $60 tickets over no flags last week.
FWC told me you have to stay on the levy, no off road. Gave me some pretty dirty looks and a serious attitude over my muddy bike. Said it wasn't cool until February.
So, reading the rules it says, PUBLIC ACCESS AND VEHICLES: "1. Open to public access year-round."
So a general gun vehicle permit is for November 4th - 19th. What is this about February?
I would sure hate to miss the good winter months.

It's generally too wet to ride out there until the end of February anyway.  I've been riding out there for years and it stays plenty cool through middle of April.  Then, you just ride early morning or late afternoon into the night.  That's my favorite time to ride out there.  Something about being in the middle of the glades in the dark.

Up until last year, ATVs were not allowed from the beginning of hunting season until after coot season(January 31). But, FWC told me that rule was changed for 06-07 and that we can ride after general gun-vehicle hunting season ends on November 19th. Nowhere in the 2006-07 rules does it prohibit ATVs after general gun-vehicle hunting season ends, like it did in the rules for 2005.

Just for you guys to know please keep the area clean....

A copy of a letter written to FWC top dawg was given to me and boy does it talk extremely bad about atv riders and the mess of trash we are doing.

Again we are all not the same but we must know that we gotta preserve our only good place to ride legally. LETS KEEP IT NICE AND CLEAN.

And, here's the brochure for the south side of the levee;

Again, no restriction of ATVs after November 19th.

Yeah, I read it just before I went. I was going to bring it, but didn't have a flag
so I didn't want the rules on the front seat. Little did I know someone out there
would hook me up with one.

I plan to go Off Road on the 19th.
