Exactly dvx400. I told you Rick was sent in to close things down. Now they are proposing fees. This is exactly the way they started in Louisiana! When some of you wake up and realize that, pm me and I will get with Mr. Maddox from Louisiana and see what we need to do!

Sine they started the new trail crap in O.N.F., I haven't been back. The big problem we are facing is there is not enough unity in riders.Everyone seems to sit back and watch as our riding land is engulfed by developers.
Not enough people show up for the protest which looks like noone cares, so they don't take it seriously. It's sad.
I might be thinking of moving towards the Carolina's.

In any endeavor worth taking, the end result has to be geared for success, and even when doing that there can be failure.    ONF has put forth a system geared for failure with pot holes and land mines on every corner.  The best corrolation I can put forth is like an abusive relationship, we as OHV riders are the victim and are and will be told, land closures, rediculous fees and hoops to jump thru are our fault and we deserve to be treated like that.  WE don't respect the forest, WE don't drive properly, WE ruined big scrub campground  ( What do you want to bet once they take the campground away from us, OUR fault of course, the hikers, campers, birdwatchers will have doors on the men's room stalls, hot water and showers and electric and water at the sights.)  But remember WE forced them to take it away, they went to extrodinary ends to bring forth the ONFA/ set aside a couple hundred miles of trails out of the hundred or so thousand miles of trails available.  Just remember like the battered spouse WE forced them to abuse and stomp all over our public land access rights, it is OUR fault.
The cure is as it is for any power hungry abusive relationship, intervention which strips the power away from those who abuse it with their agenda based, candy coated, rules and regulations.
1: Bring positive media attention to our cause
2: Bring groups together, ATV's/Jeepers/Hunters/Dirtbikers
3: Involve the groups with legal support networks to bring the lawsuits necessary to keep our public lands public.
REMEMBER IT WAS ALL THE ENVIRINMENTALIST LAWSUITS IN THE '80's and 90's WHICH STARTED THE LAND CLOSURE TRAIN ROLLING!!!!

I still want to know why I have to pay for a little green sticker and also pay for a permit to ride in ocala , I'm aware the sticker is for  titling and proof of ownership  "another way to collect sales tax"  and to make new trails   and to maintain trails . According to the permit fee its used to maintain trails and facilities. Trails in ocala are still not groomed and I here the groomer will be here in a few months , what facilities need to be maintained  All there is there is an out house. I want to know where the figures are for the collected tax for all these orvs are I looked at the link below and couldn't find it.

There is a motorcycle cat, but I would think revenue from this program would be seperate from that.

so very true we already pay taxes and fees for everything we do. I dont mind paying fees if we can use the forest like we used to. instead of some stupid 2 way trail system that is only going to fail. because of to many people getting hurt. isnt it kind of funny that for 40.00 the hunters can ride there oversized suv's and 4x4 ohvs any where they want to.they do more damage to the trails and numbered roads than we could ever do and they want us to pay for it. and it is also a fact that 90% of the garbage that is out there is from locals and hunters.but were the ones that need to put up the money and get the least use out of it. and i drive to durhamtown also ocala will never compete with that place.

AMEN LeBlanc! I know a few folks that will help me get a statewide organization started. Our state is opening up trails in state forests. We need a statewide org. that will be effective. I can get some jeepers and possibly other 4x4 clubs together with you ATVers on this venture.

I have been waiting for some more folks on here to get behind me on this. It sounds like the trend is growing and finally we can get something started.

Here is some information that I have come across (pay special attention to the italicized section):

Proposed Action #2. Make it a priority to commit enough resources and protection to low use wilderness lands to ensure nondegradation of their outstanding opportunities for solitude and near pristine conditions.

Implementation

    * Develop standards where they don't already exist.
    * Establish base line inventory needs and monitor trends.
    * Assure protection of lightly used areas before placing use restrictions at high use areas if the restrictions have the potential of displacing the use.

The above is from a Forestry Service document that is supposed to be closed to the public. Believe me, the rest of the document is all about Forestry's plan to close recreation areas down. Fees are a part of it to lighten the burden of restricted areas and keep people from using such areas!

I have saved the document in the off chance that the forestry spies on here get this particular page taken down. Anyone who wants to read it, pm me and I will be glad to share the information I have.
