These guys are near Murphy NC. You might want to call them and check with them. They would know if there is a closer place to Maggie Valley.

Try this link: Appalachian ATV Adventure is on the right hand side under, Getting Back to Nature - Never mind it looks like they only offer them from April 1st- Dec 15th. They still a lof of things listed on the site to do though.

I have been to a ATV park near there. I wish I could remember the name. We have ridden there a few times. There was a  ATV tour/rental business in the area and they are very lame. I watched from a distance and they provided the equipment but you could not cut loose. It was a follow the leader kind of a deal.

I have been on the Appalachian ATV tour and its great!  I go with my girlfriend every year to visit her parents in Asheville.  The only bad thing is that if you get a group of people that have never ridden before you go real slow.  The pace of the ride is set by the weakest rider.  They provide you with all the riding gear, all you have to do is show up.  They also provide a lunch about half way through the tour.  If you are looking for a relaxing ride through the mountains I highly suggest them, the tour guides are cool and take pride in what they do.  Here is their website  www.atvtogo.com

Anyone can ride on the trails that the ATV tour goes on.  Its an ATV park and I believe its free.  Its technical riding since you have the mountain on one side and a drop off on the other so there really isn't room for mistake if you are riding fast.  Its more of a scenic place to ride.  The trails are old logging trails carved out of the side of the mountain.  I am not 100% sure how to get to the park or even the name of it, since the tour guides pick you up at a meeting place and take you to the park in a shuttle.  I am sure the guys at Appalachian ATV Adventues could give you directions to the park.

There is an atv park in Sylva/Dillsboro, N.C.. It's called Roy Taylor Park. I don't know of any rentals there but it's a nice relaxing ride. Kinda in the middle of the forest. Not to many people know about it. Good place to take the family.

Yeah we rented ATV's from Appalachian ATV tours about 4 years ago..."GREAT PEOPLE"!! and they ride the Wayehutta National Forest aka The Roy A.Taylor National Park, it is hard to find on your own (banjo's playing in the middle of nowhere  Shocked) it is behind Western Carolina University just south of Silva on 107.

Our place is about 30 miles west of there  Wink  We drove up for the weekend to see the colors last weekend Shocked here is a pic of the area driving down hwy 107 going toward Cashiers Grin

It was well worth the short trip  Wink (26 hours of driving to get 52 hours of Mountains) Roll Eyes

Here is a pic of Our Mountain  Grin  Our place in 15 miles north of Franklin off Hwy 28

Hey Gary make sure you drive "UP" Hwy 64 into Highlands from Franklin it's the BEST road w/waterfalls but you can only see them going up the mountain.

Another cool thing to do up there at Christmas is to ride the Polar Express out of Bryson City into Dillsboro it is supose to be AWESOME  http://www.gsmr.com/polarExpress/index.htm The Great Smoky Mountain Railroad
