I have been in contact with Marks wife. It seems that during his accident he broke two vertabrae in his back and fractured and dislocated his pelvis. There was no spinal cord damage, which is good news and a sigh of relief. He spent several several days being stabilized at UF Shands Hospital in Gainesville before being able to be transferred to an "aggressive" rehab facility in Winter Haven. I have personally spent some time in one of these rehab facilities after a bad car accident, and can tell you it is an extremely painful ordeal. He is currently wearing a back brace, which his wife says he will have to wear for several weeks until his back heals. The good news in all of this is that he is expected to recover, but his wife has indicated that his racing days are through. I know from experience the "down" feelings he's going through, so take a minute to PM,email or call him and give him your support. PM me if you want his #.

Mark, you're in my prayers brother.

Mark I wish you a speedy recovery. Two weeks ago you were wishing me well from
My wreck (broken C/B) now your injured. Your no stranger to pain considering you had two broken legs at the same time. Slowly but surely the body heals and the pain fades. I'm hopeing you a 100% recovery and that your back on that quad soon!

Mark if you can get to read this just want you to know many many many people have asked about you. News about that race spread like fire. Brady and Benny both kept us in the loop when they got bits of info. It's really great to read on here that you are doing better. Wishing you all the best an a lightning fast recovery!

First time being able to sit at the computer for a bit for any length of time and I wanted to sasy THANK YOU for all the support, best wishes and prayers that have been sent on my behalf!...I trully belive that the prayers are why I can still walk and have no spinal cord damage...Thanks to all!!!

I am going through home therapy now and will progress to out patiant therapy. I am walking every day more and more around my house and try to stay positive about things. I really hate the burdon I have put upon my wife! She has to take care of me , the house, the yard...everything!

I don't think I will be able to ride any time soon, the brace I have now is for 8-12 weeks then I think I move onto a differant brace?...not to sure there. Just turned 43 and I am healing a lot slower these days. The bummer was I was comming off a little high from taking first place in the begnier class at the FTR Quadscramle #1 the Saturday before my crash at Thunderbowl and now I feel that the racing will need to come to an end...I feel that I am risking to much with it with my loss of work and my wife's loss of work since she now has to care for me has me questioning racing as a hobbie. though we are blessed that our jobs support us durring this mess It really has me concerned.

My wife and I hope to continue trail riding if possiable as we really did enjoy that. The day of the crash we had placed a deposit on a Supercross Toyhauler earlier that day to carry our two quads so that we could include camping with our atving! We have since had to pass on it but do hope to prusue it in the future. On thing that we both have enjoyed was the ATV community, weither it's riding or racing the people we have meet through atving have been GREAT! and neither of us want to give that up! and that includes all the cool people here on atvflorida.com!

So some time next year I hope to run into some of you'all on the trail and give you a firm handshake and a hearty thank you. Well drink a tall cold one and talk about racing days gone past and old injuries, my list seams to be growing.

Mark

PS Thundbowl racers: I hope to make it back to the track in the near future to watch some real racers showing my how it's done!...tip: watch that turn one...it can trip you up.  My wife bought me some cool prints of me at Thunderbowl from the photographer that was their that night and they look GREAT! makes me look like a better rider than I am...goes with out saying.

You are an inspiration ! I'm glad your healing and walking. what has happened to you could happen to any of us, on top of your game riding well, feeling good, wining race's
then in a split second... WHAM ! IT'S OVER. I'm glad your coming along with recovery and do hope your back on your quad  light duty and you and your wife do get that supercross toy hauler. When I'm back riding again (I hope soon) I'll do a lap for you, and all rider's that have gone down hard like you have.  Wink

                            Salute to ya. Take care

Hope things continue to go well for you, Mark.  I think my wife and I may have met you and your wife at QS1.  Did she race a green Prairie 700 in Women's Utility?  Either way, best of luck to both of you.  Here's to a speedy recovery. Toast
