Sad to say but that`s the reason why we don`t ride in Florida anymore.We got tired of all the woops and so many restrictions.Once you ride up north you don`t want to ride in Florida again.We started with one atv ,3 years ago ,and know we have a group of about 30 atv`s and because of the inconviniences that we encountered in Florida we decided to travel out of Florida and you will be surprised of how many people are doing the same thing!We haved enjoyed the trail systems of Hatfield McCoy/West Virginia,Durhamtown and Broad River/Georgia,Harlan county/Kentucky and Coal creek Tenn. They have one or two way trails, THERE ARE NO WOOPS!. They have lots of accomodations like cabins,houses, and motels. In West Virginia and Kentucky you are allowed to ride your atv in town like going to the grocery stores,fast food restaurants,and gas stations etc. It`s an unique experience that you enjoy with your family and friends.Don`t get me  wrong we love Florida and we wish that some day we will  have a hundred plus miles of  trail systems like the ones we have visited in the past few years ,so we wouldn`t have had to travel so far and spent the money in other states. As you all know this fun sport is increasing in a very fast rate and other states are taking advantage of it .This is a good opportunity for Fl. to increase tourism and they are running behind!Be safe and ride responsible!

you practically took the words out of evryones mouth Im a lil old for this freekn illegal riding but sometimes it is the only way to enjoy my bike I have found that the cops are less strict on us when we dont run and I have personally ridden by an officer with 6 or more bikes stopped and by luck I happen to have been going slow and the officer not even give me a second look and I was parked not more than 50 yards after the officer just somethimg you guys should know

Some may already know, but one of the things I learned from the board meeting of ONFA Friday night was that grooming of the trails started Friday morning,,,,they got 3 miles done in between Lake Delancy campground and Rodman Dam pit.

The grooming that is being done at the moment is not with the piece of equipment that is on order because it has not yet arrived(due in about a month) but with a bulldozer of sort, so it is not going very fast, but it has started.

In the meeting I pointed out how many people from this site are willing to drive many hours and pay a hefty sum just to ride on the comparativly small area at Durhamtown Plantation just because the trails are groomed,,,,,to this, someone high up with the forestry service(not sure if they want me to mention their name) said "I want Ocala to have a world-class trail system, and we are working on it."

I'm finally excited about the possibilities and progress of Ocala.

I was out at big scrubb today and had a great time. until i found out you are no longer aloud to ride on the side of the pipe line. the bad thing about all of this trail system is they are taking away alot of our riding areas and for what reason. I have heard so many different storys i dont even think the rangers know what is going on. the one thing im really mad at is the fact that the hunters will be able to use these woods with there 4x4 trucks that are also allterrain vehicles and do a lot more damage to the woods than our sport quads.im sorry but i also pay taxes. and should be aloud to use the forrest to enjoy my sport. and when are they going to realize the revenue that could be brought to ocala.just look at hatfield and mccoy and what atv has done for there community.

  I already had thoughts of moving to Virginia.If there is riding up there like you say, it's a good possibility I will.I'm sick of trying to find places to ride in Florida.And there doesn't seem to be a lot of people willing to protest here either!!
   I drive up to Virginia at least twice a year, next time, maybe I'll take my quad.Is there a website on the Hatfield trails in West Virginia?

You know man, Ocala has a whole lot to learn about being a world-class trail system, it will never happen. Like ride out west for a while and you will like see what world class trail systems are man. Ya all may groom them their trails, but it won't keep the people from going off the trails. A world class trail system, like man with speed limits and with places to view nature, that doesn't sound like a world class trails system man.

Plus like you may want to charge me for using something that I already pay for, like how fair is that.

I have also like man seen research where wildlaw is keeping an eye on the Ocala.

Dude, you're "like" "like" "like" "like" killing me with the likes. Be glad there is some place to ride. Believe me, Florida is the last place on earth that needs revenue from tourist. Somebody mentioned that West, VA is using the Hatfield McCoy trails to draw tourism. Florida has enough attractions believe me that they don't need an atv venue to keep things going. The sport is growing so rapidly and I think we need to work with the state and anybody who wants to provide a riding area instead of constantly knocking it.

  I support the riding also.I've shown up at protest with only four to five other members  showed up.I know this state has attractions to bring in revenue, but that doesn't include riding area's; they could probably care less about us.I see a long battle ahead.I'll stay a rider and always be willing to support the cause.I love to ride!!

  I think the real subject line is not being addressed here. Florida is not running behind, but right on schedule. Ya'll keep missing the real agenda for the trails, forests, parks and state lands. The enviros want it all, want to control what you can and can't do on lands ya'll pay for!

  There are a couple of things I keep telling ya'll, but only a few are listening. One of those things is the The Wildlands Project The folks behind this don't want you in "their" forest. The current Forestry Management has shown that it agrees with this idea.
 
   ONFA, and others, feel we should "work with" government. These folks are either extremely niave, or think they will be able to have acess for their cooperation that we, the rest of the world, won't have. Which means they should not be speaking for you yet because of their innocence, or should not be speaking for you at all because of their selfishness.

   I have never minced words in this fight. The greenies have taken over so completely that there is no time to mince words. I have seen the fight that the Second Amendment folks have put up; and have seen them win back their rights. They didn't do it by compromising with the government.

   The folks who fought the BLM out west didn't compromise with the government either, and they won as well. While I don't condone how they won, I understand that they did what they had to do to get the BLM to start listening to them, and do applaud them. They didn't compromise either btw.

Have you decided what you are going to do about the Florida Black Bear Scenic Byway using your name as an example of groups that will partner with the Byway? Officially Mr. Thompson was stating that ONFA won't have anything to do with the Byway, yet failed to show up at the meeting in Dec. to have their name removed from the Corridor Management Plan.

   If ONFA is not removed from the Corridor Management Plan, that means that they do agree with the Byway and will be partnering with them.....interesting to see how this turns out....

Hey Ida, how do you get to the Lake Delancy Campground and Rodman Dam Pit area? I am wanting to take the family there New Year's week-end to do some riding. I will be coming from Winter Haven, Polk county. Also, do you think my youngest daughter's atv will make it, it is one of those mini 50's with the small tires. Thanks in advance for any and all help.
