I rode my bike to the starting line at 2:45 to get a good spot and did a coulple of practice cranks. The 3rd. time I went to start it, it only turned over but no start. It made a funny noise too. My son gave me a ride back to the trailer on his 90 to get the Rhino and tow me back. It pull started and ran for a minute then shut off. By now its after 3:00 and I'm going nuts trying to figure out the problem. I gave up at 3:20 and went and watched the race. They wouldn't even give me my entry fee back.
O well, my son got 2nd. place in the pee wee class and he cant wait till the next one.
Found the problem with the bike this AM, a bolt backed out and wiped out my stator.

That's a bummer about the stator.
You can't get your money back once the first race of the day has started.

The track was rough and learned I got to work on my endurance alot more. Got a last place start and then my front sprocket went out on the last lap. Still had fun though and can't wait to the next one.

That's the spirit! Doing these events and doing well requires a lifestyle of proper diet and exercise, that's for sure. Preparation is KEY! Prep the machine. Prep the body.
It is NOT for everyone. It is probably the hardest thing one will EVER do in their life for 2 hrs! I was thinking after the practice lap..." I don't work this hard at work!"
It is rewarding just to finish. The time between races should be time spent preparing.
TRX, I saw you and asked if you were okay. You gave a thumbs up sign and I was gone.
The next one is November 4th at Seminole. Our club cut the woods courses they have. When they are new, they are great.
The next race after that is up by Live Oak, FL on the 11th of November.
Just a heads up... for those of you that are new and joined, you can also run the HS series. Gatorback, in Gainsville Feb 24th!! Can't ride there normally.
This gives Florida quadders at least 17 weekends of these! There is NO OTHER state that offers up this much fun. This doesn't even include the 8 more MX events FTR offers up.
So for those of you who are questioning the fees. Remember what it gives you and you will see it is pennies for what you can do with it. The fun runs and benifits are a bonus. We alos have a big scholarship fund, so it is not some flusey club like some would like you to believe. Everything you saw this weekend was from volunteers. Good people providing good times and good family fun.
See you around

I am in the process of upgrading my bike right no in preperation for the next race whether it be the HS or QS. I refuse to let a course beat me up and not take another stab at it. When I go next time, I will enter the race and catch the course on the first day when it is fresh. That way
I
can be the one doing the beating up and not the other way around! I am going next time with vengeance!

This was my first quadscramble and I enterend the 400cc beginer class and man was that brutal! but I was able to take first place in my class with two other riders
But now I will be riding with the C riders and don't think I'll be doing as good
I hope everyone is right and the other courses are not as bad as this one was

Congratulations Mark! What a way to begin by taking a win! C class is fun except for the sandbaggers who are scared to run in the appropriate class. But that'll just make you stronger.
That was NOT a good representation of what the courses are like. There are some that have just as big of whoops and some that have way worse palmettos. There were no trees in this first event. Only 1 really easy area from what I remember. Some courses are so tight you'll need a can opener to get through the trees!
You guys want a fun virgin course? Do the HS Oct 4th in Madison. Now THAT will be nice!

Mark,
Did they promote you or did you move yourself up?
My freind Frankie was the guy on the white Z400 in your class. He is still trying to make a come back from a broken arm and a broken leg.

Mark, I ran the senior class. I had the only 400 in the class. Every other bike was a 450. After the holeshot I looked up and those guys were gone. Those seniors can run fast. Im gonna go to the 0-400 class next race.

mudnuri - (cool screen name!) thanks, my little victory felt great, I had some friends there (a buddy that broke his tie rod in pratice that was going to run the open beginer class) along with my wife who all came up to congradulate me as I crossed he finish...that made it awesome!
TRX450R - they did not promote me but it is my understanding that one win or three top finishes and your promoted to the C class. I'm in the CFQR - Central Florida Quad Riders club and there a all c riders with the president being a B rider and they were all saying "welcome to C class now"
...kind of sounded like they were looking to run me over or at least give me a little schooling...lol
yea, I meet Frankie, I went over and introduced myself, nice guy. that's what I liked about the FTR is the people, everyone told each other good luck. I think he finshed just a few minutes behind my, I'm sure his recovery is the only reason I was able to stay ahead.
cubnfrank - I had considered the senior class also being 42 but someone said that there fast racers just older now but not any slower so that's why I figured the beginer class was for me
I would switch to the 400 class if i were you, that is what I like about the FTR events is the 400's don't have to compeat with the 450's. I run some flat track events and all the classes from beginer up are all open cc's and it makes it hard to run a 400 against the 450's and with me being a bigger rider trying to run against a 13 yr old half my weight on a 450 is impossiable

I dont know if you guys looked at the times, but Willis Pledger is no joke when it comes to racing. 4 minutes he had on second place! Only way he will lose is if he breaks or doesnt show up. He races Senior class and is a freaking animal.
Congrats to Brian for the Vet win, and Willis for the Senior win.

hehehe-the senior class is FAST and just got a little faster with the Willis Pledger switching to it.
The C class is a tough class. There are FAST riders in there, too! So when you win, it makes the next few days after, seem worth it.
Heck, today is Wed and I am still hurting!
I am really glad some of you guys went on out and gave it a try. There are some pics from the weekend before on racedaypics.com. There is a helmet cam video on the FTR site made by a two wheeler. Watching that makes it seem like passing on one is easy. A heck of a lot easier than on a four wheeler!
I think the kids had the best time of all. Can't wait until the next one.

Frank, sorry to see you with that chain off on the first lap... you should of switch bikes with bubba because he can't finish a race..
Can't wait for the other QS races, the courses will be 200% better, more woods and less whopps
only thing I miss is the running to your quad for the start, that was the best...

You know, it is Wednesday and I'm still sore, too, but it's only my forearms. My legs never got tired and my shoulders were only sore on Monday. I'm kicking myself for not hanging a little tougher and at least completing another lap. I know I could have finished the whole race but at the time, it just didn't seem worth the effort. I wasn't even remotely having fun. I'm definitely looking forward to the next race, though. I might even do Boggy Creek again just so I can say it didn't totally kick my a$$.

Checking to see if anyones going to go and run the Rattler in Madison on the 7th? If so, do you know where you're going to stay? There are several Motels listed on the flier at both I75 & Exit 5 as well as I-10 & Madison. I'm planning on taking a 1/2 day vacation from work and going up Friday afternoon. I was going to run Vet. Quad but based on reading the reviews of Orlando
(I went for the day to check it out but didn't bring my quad) I should probably start out in Beginner 2 (201 - Open) class.

Me too. I could have taken 5 spots over if I did one more lap.. But it was just not fun to me and I didnt feel like getting beat up again!

Thanks for the pat on the back SVTBOLT, I have been hitting the gym with my wife 4 times a week and also some practicing on Taylor Kisers track with him sometimes and it is starting to pay off for me, I was 221 LBS when we got back from Jamaica and Mexico and have come down to 195lbs in the last 5 weeks, sorry about the bad luck you had hope it gets better for ya!!!!!!!! I just looked at the scores and I was 9th overall out of 181 quads, not bad for being an old fart!!!!!

The QS was a blast. That course beat the crap out of me too. It got to the point I could barely keep my thumb on the throttle and hands on the bars. I also at some point on my second lap hit the choke and didn't realize it. It started sputtering really bad and wanted to dye everytime I got off the throttle. Just thought it had developed some kind of fuel problem. It was when I got back to the pits when I realized the choke was on.
Hey TRX450R_Racer I met you and Frank at the gas station in the morning. Sorry for the bad luck with your chain coming off on the first lap, that blows. Glad to see Frank made it through on his Z.
Can't wait for the next race. Hopefully see some of ya'll there.
