Important Thunderbowl Information - Please Read
«

July 12, 2006, 08:38:11 PM »
For those of you who race at Thunderbowl, I would like to let you know that the track will be closed for the rest of July and all of August, with "plans" to re-open on Labor Day Weekend. This information is direct from the owner of the facility. There is a recorded message to this effect if you call the track phone #. I met the owner of the track, on site, this afternoon and spoke with him at length regarding the current situation out there, how it got that way, and solutions to resolve it. I don't want to get into specifics, because, quite frankly, that's how rumors get started. I will say that I am now personally working to help make the track and the facility a better place for everyone involved.
I do need to speak to a couple of people, as I have some questions.
1) Hillkiller
2) I don't know your name (sorry), but you ride the black YFZ450 in the "Pro" class. I know you said you were from Clermont area, and you stated to me that you're in the trucking business.
If you guys could PM me, I'll give you my # or email so we can talk privately. No drama, just simple questions.
That's about it. If have any questions at this point, I will try to answer them. As more information comes available, I will post it.

I figured you would be happy, since you're so "busy" between now and then. Get all your crap done so you can come when the track re-opens.

well, If Dave and Doug keep helping me build this fence I can get it done quick.. I at least have to get the fence finished, I need to keep my dogs in and the cows out.. those vinyl fences are a lot more work than the wood ones... Gary finally showed up right as we were wrapping up for the day... very suspisious......

Thunderbowl closing might work out to be good for most. It will give me a chance to get the 330R back together and to save up some money to go racing. I sure hope they rework the track and put some clay down onto the track. The track will be safer and this is good for everyone.
In addition, I have been thinking that it might be a good idea to space out the 1st and second rows more for the beginner class, just to let them sort themselves out better in the first turn. That pile up was nasty looking, I sure hope everyone is O.K.. I would like to see the starts moved back to where they used to be for the same reason, safety. A longer straight gives more time to get everyone in single file.
Anyways,
I look forward to seeing many of you tommorow in Valdosta

I just wanted to remind everyone that there is no racing at Thunderbowl this weekend. It will not re-open until at least Labor Day, in the beginning of September. There is no answering machine to tell you this, so some might call, and think it's business as usual out there.
I am only posting this because I happened to run into a man yesterday, and he mentioned his friends were coming from Naples just to race. i don't think "slightly disappointed" would cover the emotion after driving 4+ hours to arrive at a closed track!

this definatly works for me since my quad is still under repair.
make the starts side by side and 8 quads wide. and move everyone back to the wall in corner 4 so they have the whole straight away to get sorted out.

YOU REALLY THINK SO? it seems to work on every other race track
it was just a suggestion. i just didnt think the 2 rows was fair for the second row but it didnt seem to make that much difference. it just would not be fun with a 4 quad race like yall did in valdosta. not that anyone cares but i would not make the 4 hour drive for a 4 quad race. i had a blast my only trip there and would have been back many times but my frame has been broke for 2months now
