Rather than piss at each other, what do you hunters agree with or disagree with the following (bear in mind I did not write it or neccesarily agree or disagree with it):
Hunting: A cruel so-called "sport"'
Hunters like to use the excuse that they give deer meat to the hungry. They feel this pride because they and they alone (with the help of a gun, ammunition, and other equipment) were responsible for an animal's death.
They go after the ones with the biggest antlers or the head that will look best mounted over their fireplace.
If population control were the main reason for conducting deer hunts, then hunters would only be permitted to kill doe.
Hunters, however, kill anything that moves, including healthy deer--and even themselves on occasion.
The cause is an increase in the number of cars on the road and the destruction of wildlife habitats.
OK I have taken some of the points you have made to try and show you the truth about hunting, and not this all hunters are evil retoric you are trying to feed everyone.
First, there are many activities that are called sports that arent actually sports. Atv's for example, the activity of riding through the woods should not be considered a sport unless you actually race them. So the sport "label" is given to many hobbies that require people to perform an activity to reach a goal.
Second, I have never met a hunter that claims he hunts to feed the hungry. I am not saying there aren't a few that do but the majority hunt to feed themselves.
Third, most large male deer, the ones with the "biggest antlers", are very hard to find or even get a shot at. This makes the majority of the bucks shot the smaller, weaker bucks.
Fourth, population control, you say that we should kill the doe's to help control the population. Two things here are that according to nature it takes a Buck and a Doe to reproduce so killing either would serve the purpose. Also most hunters hunt for meat and would prefer to take a doe.
Fifth, You say all hunters kill anything that moves. That is a rediculous stereotype that I cant believe you used seeing as how you have "been called it all". That would be like me saying all English people have rotten teeth and bad breath, so please refrain from using that stupid arguement.
Your last statement up above is right on the money. This is neither the hunter nor the anti-hunters fault. This is to be blamed on the developers and both groups shold fight together to help save our natural habitat. This goes for all outdoor enthusiasts.
I hope this helped enlighten you a bit Paul.

As I said, I didn't write it. I was just curious as to what the counter arguments that people who hunt would use.
Of course someone that does not agree with hunting is going to think that people who hunt are wrong. I like animals, I feel what you guys do when you kill them "for fun" is wrong. You think it's ok so lets just leave it at that.

I apologize I missed the part where you said you didnt write it. But there are some arguements. I am not a hunter but I fully support it, because I am friends with many hunters and understand the reasoning behind it. There are also many common goals between hunters and Atv'ers.

I think it's great that people don't like hunting and don't hunt. That just means there are less people to contend with when I want to go hunting.
The bad press and false unsupported allegations made relative to hunters and hunting never ceases to amaze me; as do the comparisions many miopic minded individuals try to create between hunters and monsters such as war criminals, murderers, etc. But, then again, one should never doubt the ability of over-zealous fanatics in large groups.
I mean, lets face it, the truth is that hunting (as proven via research efforts from multiple companies, universities, organizations, etc.) does an excellent job of controlling the burgeoning deer population. In fact, to encourage this control issue, many states have adopted a mandatory doe kill prior to harvesting a buck. In addition, disease and starvation is definitely a part of nature. However, disease and starvation brought on my man's encroachment into prime deer habitat is anything but natural. The hypocrisy of insinuating that death for a deer via disease and starvation is somehow more acceptable than death by hunting demonstrates the twisted mentality of many anti-hunter types.
With respect to an increase in car accidents with deer at the start of hunting season, the same reasoning could be applied to the increase in sexually transmitted diseases and unwed pregnancy during spring break.
As a 12 year plus board member, director and president of a large Florida Fish and Game organization, I challenge any anti-hunting group to demonstrate a level of stewardship, conservation and concern exceeding that which hunters (an outdoorsmen and women in general) carry for the environment and the wildlife (not just game animals) living within it. The truth is, they can't. The issue's been beat to death. As a result of the actions taken by hunters, millions of acres have been preserved in a manner that allows the public (both hunters and not) to access and enjoy. Species of animals have been brought back from endangerment and a better understanding of our wildlife has been accomplished. You can bet PETA and the Sierra Club had nothing to do with it.
By the way folks, I just placed a HUGE order with Cabelas!!! WOOOT!!! Hunting season is barely one month away! (South Carolina opens August 15th).

Ok I guess I need to get out of this thread. Im 14 and have never owned a gun or a bow. Also im gonna be the more "mature person" here paul and quit posting because I dont feel the need or have the time to sit here and call names and respond to everybody that says anything. Although im not the immature 14yr old you think I am, you and many other adults are going to continue with that view point that kids are mindless immature know nothings untill they turn 18. So with that and this last thing im about to say im done in this topic. The way I see it, people that are Hunters are gonna stay hunters. The anti-hunting treehuggers are going to continue to be what they are. All the arguing and name calling in the world isn't gonna change that. So all of us including myself need to quit bi*ching about who's right and who's not and do what QT314 said.

The whole lot of ya are testosterone filled homophobes. I mean really to be a hunter or not to be a hunter neither makes a man a wuss or sissy. Y'all are bickering on the internet over and issue that will be as divided as religion.
Move the hell on or I'll continue to sit here and laugh my arse of at all y'all calling names over a hobby/sport.
I mean really put your testosterone back in check. Give your nuts back to your wives, mothers, and g/f's. So we can go on peacefully. LMAO!!!!!
OH FYI I HUNT! I haven't gotten anything yet that's why it's called hunting not killing.
QT different kind of hunting
Oh, do you eat what you hunt?

Yes, I like deer, hog, turkey. If I kill it I'm going to eat it. BD you're thinking of the wrong hunting. And I'm not hunting that. I'm more of a sight seer in that department.
