Hi all.  New to riding in Fl. as I live in North Carolina and am down here visiting family.  Am looking for some information that I cannot find in other posts, or on ONF's website.  I am planning a trip to spend the night in a campground in ONF with my 2 ATVs, and my parents 2 as well.   Just trying to find out some info from someone other than a ranger.

1. What are Florida's age restrictions for ATV's?
2. Do they have any?
3. Helmet laws?  (for the record, my kids wear them always, but not sure about making my dad wear one)
4. Are there any convenience stores near Big Scrub Campground?
this is where I am planning on spending the night and just wondering how easy it will be to get something if we need it.

Anyway, thanks for all the info I've already gotten from you and thanks for a great site.

Welcome to the site and FL.

1. No age restrictions.
2. Yes there are rules
3. I have seen people w/ no helmets on. So I' gonna say no on that.
4. No convience stores close to my knowledge. Big Scrub is pretty deep in the woods.

As far as rules here's what I know:

Can't ride at night
Can't ride on ANY number roads
All pits are closed

I know the recently there has been a new trail system put in so I'm sure there are some additional riding rules but I'm sure someone else will chime in.  -Mark

1. No age restrictions.
2. Dont ride off into mud/clay pits. They will fine you. 1/2 hour before sunup and after sunset are the riding hours. Cant ride on numbered roads. should be a sign of a quad with a cross over it at the end of the trail.
3. State rules say anyone under 16 has to wear one.

Closest stores I know of are on SR 42 at south side of the forest.

when i was there 4 weekends ago i saw a couple yamaha rhino's so i think they would have no problem with you,

there is a store called "buck and does", if you head south out of the campgound, when you hit the paved road that runs east to west, you head west and it's down the road maybe 10min and it's on the right hand side
