I was looking over the new 2006-07 regulations for Holeylands WMA and it seems they have added a new rule requiring all ATV's to have an orange flag attached at a minimum height of 6 feet.  This also applies to the Everglades WMA on the south side.  Has anyone on here been told about this by an FWC officer out there?  Here is the link to the new rules and it can be found in bold text.

That rule used to be enforced several years ago.  You used to also have to have a sticker to ride out there.  I've never been bothered by the Wardens for not having one (a flag; they would bust you for no sticker) but it's also a very good idea.  The tracks and buggies cannot see you if the grass is high.  You could easily get run over.  It's happened in the past.  The flags are inexpensive (about $15.00) and not that big of a deal.

Before anyone starts whining about the flags, please note that they also removed that former rule which prohibited ATVs from the end of coot season(January) through April 30. So, we can now legally ride there all year. That's actually the best time of the year to ride there, too. The rule used to be listed as #4 under Public Access and Vehicles in the 2005 brochure;

Yeah I don't mind the rule at all.  I already have a nice flag pole that I purchased for river ranch.  I just wanted to make everyone aware of the new rule.  I'm happy to see that we can now ride in Holeylands year around.

Gamer, thanks for the info. Wasn't aiming the "whiner" comment at you! Just wanted to nip it before it started. Where do you get the flags? Does River Ranch sell them cause I'm just waiting for my campsite to be assigned.

The last time I went to River Ranch they did have flags at the front office for sale.  You might want to call them in advance to make sure they have them.  I believe they were under 10 bucks.  If not you can find them online or at a bike store.

At any auto tag agency. Just show title or copy of application for title dealer gave you. Otherwise, you'll need to show a bill-of-sale and apply for a title.

I think the state stopped issuing/requiring stickers to ride in the WMA's somewhere in early '04.  The stickers used to expire June 30 of each year.  I still have the last year on my Prairie.  The only place the state requires stickers now is Croom and Tate's Hell, I believe.  Even if they resurrect it, as long as they use the money to rider's benefit, I don't have a problem with it at all.

Titles are required by law and so are the stickers. The stickers let law enforcement know you're complying with the titling law. They are required to ride on any/all public lands, not just Croom. The Croom sticker is for Croom only, but legally, you must also have the green 06 sticker to ride Croom. It's only confusing only because it's not enforced right now, but, it will be and could be any day. I do not profit from the sale of the $4 green stickers!

Last Saturday night, there was no signs of enforcement. We'll see Sunday, but, I can't see how the flag law is an inconvenience.

I've taken the flag rule so serious that I not only have a flag, but, I also emit a noxious gas from my colon to signal others that I'm approaching.

LMAO We just bought flags and from taking the quads in and out of the shed mine has actually split in two. We ended up taking them off, but they are now required at holylands for all I know. Stickers are aswell. It ended up being that the flags was the only way we could see our slow as heck buddies way down the trail while we waited for them.

And, if that's what it's going to take to keep Holeyland legal for ATVs, I'd also wear a clown's hat and a one white Michael Jackson glove white!

I went to holey lands 2 weeks ago and yes they are enforcing the flag rule...
it has to be orange and it has to be 10"x8"

To machine dog... they also sell flags that are two pieces that you just pull the top part so you can put it in your shed!!
