Was it warmed up and everything, and does it have clean and enough oil in it?  Is the fuel percock on?  Is the choke on?  Check the plug too.

Water in the carb is sometimes as easy as just draining it, it'll get it out sometimes.

Will it idle? Does it bog when you give it gas and the shut off? If so I would check to see if the clip the holds the needle is broken. When you give it gas the slide will come up and the needle will stay down, choking it out.

Check your muffler bearings sometimes they cause that or your cool start by-pass check valve in the radiator could be acting up, flush it out with some gator aid high endurance or some red wine.

It's not your plug, it's not your exhaust...

it's either a fuel issue, or an air/fuel mixture issue.

Put your petcock in the reserve position and try that.  If that doesn't work, then I'd drain the carb.

Good luck

This may sound stupid Josh but I ran mine with the airbox lid off and it did the same thing. With the stock jets it runs like crap when it gets too much air. Good Luck!!

Of course...

It could be the Fitzer Valve. If that's the case, you'll need some 30 weight ball oil and some ball bearings.

If it revs up real high then died that is a sign of a really lean condition then since it's so lean it runs out of gas hence the bogging and engine stopping. Basically what you did is burned all the gas that was in the bowl. Correct me if I'm wrong but don't 4 strokes have some type of electrical gismo conntected to the carb kinda like a fuel pump. I read that on a site when I was searching for a carb for my 500. If there is something like that then my guess is that it shorted out and didn't feed carb enough fuel.  -Mark

clean the bowl on the bottom of the carb. my friends 86 250x does that too. the gas tank is so old it gets stuff in it all the time. we put a fuel filter on it and it does a lot better. anyway check that. if there is stuff in there clean it out and get a fuel filter if you dont have one. it is only like 4 bolts on the bottom of the carb on his.

do you think that there might be water or somthing in the carb?

i had the same problem with mine about 3 months after i got it, i just cleaned my carb and cleaned out my tank(there was stuff in both) and then it ran perfect, mostlikly whats happening is when u go to rev up it sucks something up into a jet which inturn kills it, just make sure u always get good gas and never have anything in it, a inline fuel filter wouldnt hurt either

they do, but it only filters out larger things, small stuff goes through it, i had like lil black specs of dirt or something in mine  because the gas station had a bad thing of gas, a inline filter keeps most or all of that out, mine has been runnin perfect ever since i cleaned out my tank and carb
