LOL!!!  You guys crack me up.

My house IS big enough for fellow atv nuts...but the neighbors already hate us for testing our bikes up and down the streets all the time and they wouldn't appreciate it if we multiplied!!

I'm a horrible cook; I cook great meals in bonfires, but that's about it.   So I'd be expecting our visitors to cook for us!  And then we'll show you around....

Just to tease you a little...this is something I wrote to someone else on the East coast to explain what the dunes are like:

Glamis can both be the craziest, most unsafe place to ride on earth, or it can be the most serene and beautiful place to ride. If you pick a holiday weekend to go, the place becomes a whole new temporary city by all the people that now go. Everyone has fast, big atvs, bikes and buggies. A lot of people drink and start driving wrecklessly and many injuries and deaths then take place. Other injuries and deaths take place because it is too crowded and people want to go fast in their awesome vehicles and they just run into each other.  During the day you see a constant cloud of dust that just lingers over the entire place and you are constantly breathing the dusty air all weekend.  At night is when you realize how popular the area has become, because of all the lights of the camps and the moving vehicles.

But when you go during the week, or on an off weekend...you can really appreciate the place. Giant bowls of sand, huge hills to climb that feel like they go on forever and never end until you arrive to heaven and they are so steep you don't know which is scarier, going up or going down, little black beetles crawling over the sand in the middle of nowhere, and winds that allow you to watch the sand dunes change shape right before your eyes. When you ride through the large dunes, you feel like you are on the moon....nothing else on earth is like being in the dunes and it looks so different than your own reality it is surreal. You have to learn to crest the ridges of the bowls by turning sideways at the top so you don't find yourself on a razor back that will shoot you out in air with a deep fall on the other side into another bowl, or slam into a "witches eye" which is a deep oval hole that is made by the changing formation of different bowls colliding together. If you decide you are not experienced enough to do the large dunes, there are smaller dunes to practice on, almost like God decided to make a desert version of a ski resort and provide both beginners and expert levels of dune riding.

Welcome to the site. This is the first time I have seen a greeting to a new member have 36 howdy do's. It must have something to do with a girl riding some real bad az@%$ equipment and competing as well. That obviously gets the testesterone flowing down here in Fla. By the way, forget the pictures of the bikes, I think they want to see pictures of you. We do'nt get out much down here. Good Luck on the Iron Women Race, that will be interesting. By the way The Mudfest is like Glamis but in the Mud. Lots of Mud, alcohol, more mud, alcohol, boobs, mud, more alcohol. The real differance is you really do not travel very far. Anyway, Good luck and stay  safe.

BAJA races FTW

I have been checking this site out because I am curious about what atv riding is like elsewhere.  I finally joined for the heck of it.  This is so different than what it is like in California!  All that mud and tropical climate you guys have!  I race in the desert races here and I am attempting to become the first woman to solo race the Baja 1000 race this next November in Mexico on my atv. 

Right now I have a Bombardier DS650 Baja X and  Yamaha Banshee 350-with full Duncan race engine.  But I have decided that I am going to try my next Baja 1000 race on a Honda TRX 450R.

I write stories about my races on my website.  My most recent race story was from when I became the first "Ironwoman" to ride solo in the SCORE Baja 250 race:

well the problem we have state of florida our ohv rules really sucks here
for all sport riders and ute here.But, you people in Cali have the best ohv rules in world there.I hope, one day i'll get  chance to ride a ute quad across the glamis sand dunes in cali one day.

Good luck riding over there in baja and i hope you become first woman
that won race in first place.I know it's going be hard, just go for it do what you need to do over there.

Thanks!  But remember I am not going to WIN the actual race....(there are some teams down there who are just way too fast), I am going to be the first woman to race down the whole peninsula by myself...and hopefully do it within the time limit.  Only a few guys have done that, but definately no woman has done that ever.  All other ATV racers have between 4-8 drivers to share the responsibility of racing the quad all the way down the peninsula...I will have to race for 40 hours straight, and only stop for about 2 hours sleep if my average speeds are up high enough.

Now I have questions about how Florida is with their OHV rules....it is wrong to say that we don't have problems with this in Cali...in fact we think it is awful because they keep trying to take away land for us to ride on.  WE now have only a few select parks left to ride on and we fight to keep those open.  In california, politics are all about preserving everything and they think us off road recreationalists are trying to ruin the last few bits of natural land.  Is that was is going on there too?

     Florida is the same way with their OHV laws, they SUCK!!!!  They afre trying to portect everything and anything they can think of.  O wait me might de causing unjust stress on the local population of endangered  spoted rocks!!!   

    We had an area just south of me called Bad Luck prarie, there was close to 75000 acres to ride, you have mud, trail and open prairie.  It was a great place to ride and camp for the weekend.  They closed that down for the Everglades Restoration Project with is not going to happen cause they don't have the fundng to proceed.  Even though its not proceeding they are not letting us ride in there saying it's hurting the environment.  I'm sorry it's dirt it will go where it wants to when it rains.  Ivf thats the case may be ban it from raining, LOL, its moving dirt that has to be environmently unfriendly. 

     Now the good news is they were suppoed to provide us with 640 acres to ride on by last November, they have not done this and are in breach of contract.  So in approx 50 days we might be riding out there again.  YEAY!!!  Thanks E-worm and lsw... for getting it started, and all of the others for the support!!!!
