Licensed vehicles like jeeps are allowed on numbered roads and off road on trails. NO ONE is allowed off the trails, that is going cross country. That even means if you run into water on the trail, you either go through it, or turn around and go back, you do not go off the trail and damage the environment.

The rules also state, "NO RIDING THROUGH THE WETLANDS". I've seen them tickets guys b/c they were playing in mud under the powerlines. Guess they were damaging the fish in the mud. But yet jeeps and such can ride trails and rip through deep water thus leaving it filed with gas and oil from their motors. As wise as you are you should be aware that we're losing places to ride b/c they don't want us there. SIMPLE AS THAT! I've ridden another management area (Thanks Honda328i) where the Rangers don't bother you. You pay your fee in the front and you go out and have a good time. NO ONE was harrasing us. We never even saw the 1st Ranger other than at the front gate the whole day. Dreth can back me on that. So why is ONF so different? Because they're trying to discourage ATV's from coming. The harder they make on ATVers, the less will show. And it's working b/c peeps are definitely steering away from that place.

It is when you go off of the trails and go through the bushes that gets us all in troble and gives us a bad name. If the trails are impassible, you are to turn around and go back, not blaze a new trail. You wonder why the rangers get mad and are thinking of closing a large amount of the trails around Big Scrub. This is the reason, The laws say "no Cross Country", That is exactly what you did.
Whoa there a minute... I've never heard of this rule before? Not saying that it isn't, but I've never heard of it. As far as I'm concerned about the rule, or law... IT'S BS if ya ask me. No cross country riding? What do you think your doing when you ride the forrest? YOUR RIDING CROSS COUNTRY! The rules also state NO RIDING THROUGH WATER correct. Lemme guess... you woulda decided not to take your 4x4 through it ha? If you honestly think they're trying to keep us out of ONF b/c of that you'll believe anything. You know how many jeeps and dune buggies we saw ride through that water in our short time there? Had to be six that I can remember. They're alot of the reason the water was so deep in the first place. But I don't see them restricted from the trails like we are from "Clay roads." Nor do they have restrictions like we do.
Last time we were there the Lady Ranger told us that if there is Water we are to go around it. I asked her what if we can't go around it and she said either make a way around it that other people can use or go very slowly in 4WD so we don't spin tires. The problem with the forest is everyone that volunteers or is a ranger gets rules from different place or different people so the riders do not know who to listen to. There needs to be a booklet written up with the rules and we will follow them. If a situation comes up that is not in the rule book we should bot be punished, just warned until they add it in the next edition.

"Ocala National Forest", get it? It's not named Ocala OHV Park. ATV's have been allowed in the forest for many years but there are now way more people riding the forest and the impacts are not good. That is why the Forest service is coming across like they don't want you riding there. If you ride wherever you want Ocala would look like Croom in 2 years I'd be willing to bet. Too bad ATV's cant make politicians money like logging then destruction of the forest by us would be alright I guess. But in the meantime the rules are the rules. All I'm saying is that Ocala National Forest is not a ATV park but luckily they allow us to ride some parts of it as long as we respect it and don't abuse it. Research it and you will find that many other Natl. Forests allow ATV's with the same restrictions and concerns.
