than you missed the girl riding with a beer in one hand & a cig in her mouth with no helmet hauling azz down the road. Hey it's never going to change this helmet debate. But ya the kids who get hurt or die that really sucks because than what do we see in the paper & on TV " ANOTHER KID WAS KILLED TODAY WHILE RIDING HIS ATV " polaris is the only company thats comes with a helmet ( kids bikes ) & the kid must ride the bike in front of the dealer i dont see why more company's dont do the same whats a dad going to say when the kid says " But dad they said i have to wear it ! " ?

I agree. Your children are YOUR responsiblity, not anyone elses. If you arent responsible enough to look after your children properly then you should not have had them... give them up for adoption.. they are better off in the long run! I dont think there should be any laws saying you need to where helmets (Its a "free" country)... but I do think that when it comes to children there should be or the parents just need to wake up and force them to wear it. Children are not mature enough to know on thier own that wearing a helmet can save thier lives. All the know is that when they wear it it is hot, and heavy, and sometimes uncomfortable. They dont understand that it could protect them from getting hurt. Parents, and even just young adults who see children without helmets, need to really enforce it to our kids that it is for their safety. We need to be persistant and do whatever it takes. Tell kids what can happen if they dont wear one, show them pictures if thats what it takes, anything that will allow the importance to sink in, and not just be another thing that you are telling them to do. They wont know the consequinces until they are told/shown, then they will fully understand on thier own how important it is.

Sorry this was so long, I just get worked up when it comes to kids. They dont know any better and it is our job to teach them. It's aweful seeing parents not doing thier jobs.

I seen one of our neighbor and his kids riding thier quads the other day, The kids where on like a 80 there was 4 of them im thinking they were from 3-7yrs old,all 4 of them where on the quad at the same time with no helmets, then their dad was on his Z doing wheelies about 40mph by them..........then he almost took our boat out doing one.....I mean if you buy them a quad you can buy them a helmet..

It's sad to say but I think I have seen worse. My first time at Big Scrub ( about a year and a half ago) I saw a woman riding the powerlines in front of scrub with  no helmet...... wait it gets much worse......... she had strapped to her an infant carrier like the ones made of cloth for a woman to put her child in to keep him/her close........... and her 6 month old child in it. And no she wasn't doing idle speed either. It's idiots like her that get on the news and put the whole sport in a bad light. Not everyone that rides is dumber than the dirt under their tires.

My son was riding the scooter home from school last week when the car in front of him stopped short. He squeezed the front  brake a little harder than the back and the bike flipped  over and he hit the road. He is 17 and usually very careful but accidents happen thank god he always wears a helmet other than a few scrapes on his face, the bike scraped up ,and his helmet  really scraped up every thing was ok. A few years ago a friend of his was riding a bike home and crossed Griffin road and was hit by a car and died at age 15 from a head injury. Just something to think about helmets save lives

I was at I drive today and I swear us three and two other guys were the only ones with helmets.

My own 12 year old pointed out those dumb azzez.  Huh

Its pathetic, I spoke with one of the land owners today and he said that there would only be two more weekend before he has to fence the property off due to getting sued by some kids parents.  The kid was killed a few weeks ago and he gets sued, go figure?
