Here we go, another area that is shut down in Collier County. Don't cry and complain if you wont write letters or send e-mails or call or attend rallys or meetings or you dont even want to post. It's your choice....

Thats exactly why it's so important to be heard. I am sitting in my car as we speak waiting to see the county attorney about the 640 acres that the county was promised, but WE ALL need to band together, no matter what part of the state there's a problem, but if we sit idley by, we lose.

I drove 2 hours for the event a few weekends ago.  And I've been trying to figure out how to change my schedule so that I can make it for this.  If you have any suggestions on how I can get someone else to treat my patients please let me know.  If I call them and close the office it's called abandonment and I lose my license to practice.  I've written my letters and am doing the best I can but please don't be critical that I can't make it.  I have several seriously injured patients that can't be rescheduled.

Hi QT. This is not meant to be critical of anyone in specific, and i can certainly appreciate ALL the efforts that have been made in the past, and all those that continue to fight this battle. But this is what i have a problem with. If there's a posting and you can POST to defend the sport.,please do. I will see 300 views for that post and then when i go to the website, only 3 people posted defending the sport. This will not be won by a handful of people. We all have to get invoved statewide. I honestly believe that if something is not happening locally in the area, the majority of the people dont care, and it's a matter of time until THEIR riding area get's closed also. I bet you that probably on average 500 people used to ride out in the picayune on any weekend?? Look how many of us actually showed up. That's my point. Please keep attending your patients and im sorry about the ranting. Sometimes i feel like it's a lonely battle thats all...Rick

Look at how many people showed up to the last one in January of 05.  Over 800 people wrote letters on site, one person supplied all the stamps and everything
Most of us got a letter back and it said the restoration project will no be ORV friendly.
Bad luck is gone forever get over that. The 640 acres is a joke in Collier County and will probley never happen.

Rick,
With the recent change in dates to April  11th I am looking at my schedule and going to do my best to rearrange a few things.  Helps when I have notice.  I hope to try my best to be there at least for a little while anyway.  I understand where you are coming from and appreciate your work.  I've posted info on it on the Northportoffroad.com site.

Hi Lauren. Thanks for all the help. Please accept my apologies if i came out the wrong way the other day, but im sure you can probably share in the frustrations that we get sometimes. I have to tell you that the sh*t is hitting the fan up in Tallahassee. This week will be very critical, but i think we are going to win this, especially if we band together. The meeting was pushed back because according to the assistant county manager the attorneys "were Negotiating" and that's all he said. Please if you can, e-mail the governor asking him to open up the picayune for atv/ohv/orv. Brian got an e-mail back from the governor himself Saturday @ 9:00 pm after brian had e-mailed him. Trust me when i tell you that we are making headway. I received another call from the Naples daily news today, and again i slammed the SFWMD for being the liars that they are and how the county can rescind on the agreement...Sorry again if i hurt your feelings the other day, I KNOW you are one of the one's that has made and continue to make personal sacrifices for the good of all. Hopefully, more will follow your example...Rick

It's all good Rick.  I'll write a letter/email to the governor tomorrow.  Another local contact not for down there but in North Port is Commisioner Vanessa Carusone.  She's been doing what she can in that area to help us.  She and her family are riders as well.  Check out northportoffroad.com for more info.  She's talking about a trip to Tallahassee.  Might be another good contact.

Hey Rick,

Again Thanks for all of the help!!!   I have already moved my day off from 3/28 to April 11.  Its a good hour ride down there for me and I will be there come heII or high water!!!  I loved riding Bad Luck, the boy scout camp trails, depending on which way you went it could get technical or just VERY wet.  I miss that place!!!

I won't be able to attend the meeting due to work.  Some awesome news is that I just started a new job at Florida Motorsports.  I am going to talk to the owner and see what he is doing to help.  We sell too many quads for him not to care.  I tell people all the time about this site when they ask about riding areas and Badluck.  It is very possible for us to get it back.  I miss having a huge place to ride all day and night.
