Picayune Strand/OHV trail plan

We are working with DOF, DOI and interested parties to develop an OHV trail plan that is compatible with the restoration project.  

Picayune Stand restoration is moving forward under the Acceler8 program.  We are following the CERP process to preserve our opportunity to receive federal credit for the land and construction costs.  Picayune Stand (SGGE) South Golden Gates Estates , was acquired by the State as a CARL land acquisition project with federal support using funds from the 1996 Farm Bill.  

While the Division of Forestry manages the area, management oversight is a requirement under the Farm Bill Agreement and the Interim Protocol Agreement.  The DOF is preparing an amendment to their management plan that contains an OHV trail.  We expect that the updated management plan will be coordinated with the district for compatibility with restoration plan, FDEP and DOI before going to ARC. .
