Riding in ONF today

AHHHh it felt so good to be able to ride today. For those of you who don't know I have had some back problems these past few months and I am going crazy to ride!! I also haven't been able to go to ONF for about a year. Oh how it has changed everything is shut down . I went to Blue sink, closed to public, went to a few pits, all closed to public. I mean I had no were to ride, I had to just ignore the signs for the day and I guess I'll be going to Croom from here on out. If you have a Quadzilla and you were out there today thanks to your group for giving my freind a ride in the jeep.  But I was so happy just to be out there. I noticed I felt like I was going 500mph down the powerlines lol. I guess when your riding all the time you become desensatized.

We also rode out at ONF this weekend. Are you talking about the lake Blue Sink? We rode over there and sat on the bank and it wasn't closed. We were coming out of the woods near the 537 pit and a ranger with 2 volunteers were waiting there like a speed trap. They said we were on a numbered road but that a ticket wasn't in order because the sign was down from were we came from. They gave us some literature on the new state decal that is required and told us it wasn't the forest who required it. That was in plain black and white. 2 other riders were there who had the decal. It looks just like the sticker on your truck tag.

As far as the trail system goes I'm not happy, but I'm glad we at least have a place to ride. Don't blame the forestry for the trail system blame the people who tear up places that obviously don't need tearing up. One thing's for sure. Once the system is in place and you get caught riding off a trail then shame on you. I have ridden in Osceola and the trails there are marked well and you don't need a GPS because they give a nice map showing all the atv trails and you know exactly where you are. Every time I go to ONF I see more and more destruction. The forest service doesn't have a choice but to do what is happening. Too many of us enjoy it. I was also told that equipment is going to be purchased to maintain the trails. Get ready for that $50 croom like sticker lol. I know it sucks but look at the tracks around the state who charge $20-$30 a day. I'll be willing to bet that when the system goes in effect it weeds out some of the yahoo's that caused a lot of this to begin with.

It is my understanding that the volunteers can't give you a ticket, a ranger maybe. I also understand that the decal will be used when the trail system goes in. I was talking to someone at BS the other weekend, and I was told that they are like going to close BS except for some trails on the power lines. That sucks.

As far as the yahoo's the payment system won't make a difference, they will be there at a time when no one is around. The only person that will hurt is the poor working man, you and me.
