I have some questions if you do own out there.

I and a buddy have been thinking of going in on a plot, but I'm a little back and forth on the idea.I've ridden out there before and have a couple buddies that are land owners already, but it would be nice to have my own key to go when I wanted.

I just don't know if I would be wasting my money? It seems like alot of keys are getting passed around to non-land owners, and some people just show up at the gate and get in anyways. So the question: Is or has there been any tightning of the ship so to speak on the rules and riders out there?I've heard also that it has been getting a little out of hand as far as campsites getting ransacked and so forth. Is that still going on?

Any feedback on the goings on out at Holopaw would be appreciated.

As I understand it they started trespassing people last weekend. The land owners at holopaw have had enough and are now watching the gate and getting the sheriff involved.

Great post!!  I am in the exact same boat.  Although I have not ridden out there, I have the cash in my pocket burning a hole waiting to be spent on a dry plot.  My only reservation is the problems you mentioned.  It seems like River Ranch is too strict, and Suburban Estates is too relaxed.  Can't we get a middle ground?  Holopaw is closer to me than River Ranch, so it's the better buy for me....I just want a SAFE place to take my family, and not one abused by non-land owners who don't belong there.  There are PLENTY of lots available from a variety of sellers, so people need to stop freeloading.  $3-10k is NOT a lot of money, and it's an investment as long as the land doesn't turn to schit.

Well, if the continue to do so, and maybe change the locks at the gate, I'll consider buying some land.  The concept is PERFECT, but not when it's abused.

All I can say is "I would not have a camp set up out there"  Huh and leave it.
OK to go for the day or tent camp overnight.....I think  Lips Sealed

That's just crazy.  If you own a dry lot that you can get to from the gate with your truck, you should be able to set up a campsite and leave it safely there.  I'm sure that's possible in River Ranch.....it's not hard to get a little more strict about gate control.

It's not just "who" comes through the gate, it's "who" owns keys  Shocked

Why dont they just change the key every 3 months? Seems like organization is lacking at holopaw. I to am looking for a place to take my family out and enjoy a weekend.

There are thousands of land owners in SE which makes it very hard and expensive to change the key out.

There are allot of very nice camps at SE not all of them are trashed. If you are smart and make some friends for the most part your camp does not get messed with. Obviously there are some exceptions.

Thing are starting to change so in other words if you are not a land owner or with a land owner DO NOT GO.

Thanks for the input folks.I did find the SE site and from the looks of it things don't look so good. The gate was broken open this past weekend(fri) and was that way until Sunday aft. when some landowners could fix it.I also saw a comment from a landowner stating he had used his key more to lock the gate back then to ever open it.Gangsta's in the woods isn't exactly what I'm looking for in a riding area.

I guess I will have to do some more checking on RR or come up with a different idea.

I heard they (land owners) are going to hire a sheriff to man the gate on a random basis to check on keys owned by land owners If you are not a land owner and show up at the gate you will be issued a warning the first time and your name will be documented. If you are found inside the gate after that you will be arrested and go to jail

Get off the S/E subject. If you don't own land out there, you don't belong in behind the gate.  This is why things are happening out there.  And ease up on trashing the place.

why would you say to get off the S/E subject ? I do own land there and I do bring my freinds out there with me and they do not own land  so why do you think this is wrong .
