i am going to put a inline cooler on my yfz and i dont know if i should put it on the coolent going in the motor side or going out side?
i am probably going to add a ESR in line water temp guage and my thoughts were to put that on the water coming from the motor to the radiator and the cooler on the other side!
but what do i know!

I would put the one with the guage in the hose you can see and the regular one in the other hose.

on the yfz you can see the hoses on both sides! i was just wondering if it mattered temp wise with the water, i would think would be hotter comming out of the motor than going in! so i didnt know which sides to put which to make any difference!

I don't know about the inline cooler, but I would definitly put the temp guage on the side feeding from the motor back to the radiator...you want to know how hot the motor is running, not how hot the water is before it goes back in the motor.

Inline coolers help very little but they do help. Using an engine ice type coolant (that's what I use) or something equivalant with the cooler may drop the temps a few degrees. The bigger the cooler the better. Look for some that are around 20 fins. That's the biggest I've see. But make sure you put it where air will have a straight shot at the cooler. That's what makes them work. -Mark

Now that I think about it some more, the YFZ has an overheating light. I would think that has to come from a temperature sending unit somewhere on the motor. Seems to me you could disconnect the light, and use that port/hardware to connect the temp guage? part #'s 6&7 in the pic below seem to be the temp sending units. Not sure if it would screw anything else up, but you may be able to tap into those

The guage is probably not a bad idea. The cooler, I doubt makes enough difference to matter. If you want one though, the guy that was with me on the triZ 3 wheeler (yamahondaman)at sand mountain makes them and a lot of other cool aluminum parts.

Them 20 fin ones i think are TOO LONG .. the normall ones i make for the Banshee's are 12 fin and 1.5 Dia., i need to get some 1.75 dia. 12-finned ones made up for the 450's...they would be more better looking and Practical,also they are made for the BIG Hose(.812) unlike the others that fit the .75 lines..i'll try and have some at the next sand mtn.race..

Hey Mav put the esr inline guage on the side coming from the motor & put the cooler on the side coming from the radiator. That way the water is a little cooler before going back into the motor.

at work i Grabbed the Program from "my files" and Posted em on here ..the cut off tool "#7" is .16 wide...tool #1 is the .03 Rougher and the #2 Tool is the .015 finisher..#3 is the 5/8's spot and #4 is the Coolant Fed Drill...CNC Machining ,,,, the 12' Bar Doesn't last long !!! see yall later !!!!!
