« on: January 18, 2006, 11:38:27 PM »

Just wanting some info on this place. I've never been there but was wanting to go up for the weekend and check it out. Was planning on going sat-sun jan. 28th-29th. They allow camping there right ? I've also heard it was $10, is that per day or can I go both days for that? Also are they even open that weekend ??  is there a website or a phone number I can call to get some information??

I tried doing a search but couldnt find exactly what I wanted to know. Thanks for any info.

I'll let you know how it compares after I go ;-) I've been out to Holeyland a few times and was gonna go there if I can't go to underhills. I think if you go out BeeLine through indiantown then go east on martin highway (I think) it's supposed to be only about a mile or two from there. so it should only be 30-45 minutes from WPB. Closer than holeylands.

I've never gone to underhills from the west before, but from I-95 go west on 714 about fourteen miles (I think I clocked it one time) It will be on the north side there are three bamboo poles sticking up in the air at the entrance turn in there. There's not really any trails there so to speak It's basically a big cow pasture with a couple of flag ponds and some pretty nasty mud holes. I've also never camped there before either but I know it's $10.00 at the gate and would assume that is per day. There is no website for underhills at least that I know of, they do have e-mail though I'll post there address if I can find it. All that being said definetly worth checking out if you like playing in the mud and Mr. underhill is one of the friendlist people you'll meet.

Try giving Edward a call and asking when the bamboo sale starts. Here's a quote from his underbamboo newsletter so I think its ok to call: "If you wish to call prier to your visit the phone #863-634-1084 or better yet Nextel radio 158*17*10563."

The bamboo sale thing is NOT just a ruse...I have bought a couple of bamboo trees from him.   Smiley Smiley Smiley

I live just a few miles from the Underhills, I'll try to get out there and meet up with you guys. I've never been riding there but I know they have a pretty good turnout every weekend.

It depends how desperate you are. There are a few big mud holes/ponds and a couple of trail loops. The trails scare me to death because the grass is usually high and you can't see if someone is coming the other way (or if there's a cow on the trail) until it's too late. I have seen sports do laps around the main camping area, but the last time I was there the trucks had rutted it up so bad, riding was downright painful. There's certainly enough room to build a track or a few more trail loops and who knows, maybe Edward would do it if we asked.
