has anyone went from bike to quad?

I'm thinking about selling my crf 230 to buy a quad. either a nice utility quad (like a rancher) or a sport like a z400 or yamaha 350 raptor.
Has anyone sold there bike for a quad? I'm afraid that once i sell it i'll regret it. Any thoughts?

Well, I'll say that the ride on a quad is alot bumpier and rougher. It's just eaiser to go faster on a bike I think, but you gotta be really good on the bike. I went from quads to bikes, I like my RM250 better. Maybe if I had a sick 250R or something I'd still be on 4 wheels.

hmmmm crashed on about every two wheelied vehicle i ever road( crashed on a bmx bike multiple times, goped scars everywhere, cut my knee open just a tad bit on my friends dirtbike
) i have a z, havent gotten beat up too bad
, i prefer quads way more, but switching like that gets confusing, you ride a dirt bike different then a quad.

I'd say its not to hard to switch, have you ever tried riding a race bike? They are a million times better than your crf as far as power suspension and stuff. I'd say its all about what you want to do.. I could ride my dads raptor just as fast through the Ocala Whoops with a bit of riding time but I'd say its way more comfortable on the bike. Also riding straight aways on a quad sucks to me. You pick up every little bump and ridge in the sand. I'd say the only thing easier on a quad would be turning good at first. Four-wheeler lean off the seat and put er sideways while it takes ALOT of practice on a dirtbike to be able to ride the corners good. Airing it out is much safer to me on a dirtbike. You've only got two wheels to worry about on the take off and landing. That makes bad jump faces very dangerous on a quad. But in the end it is what you want, but I'll tell you this you do crash on dirtbikes and if your on a racebike things could get nasty if your hauling. But I'd rather have a bad crash on a bike than on a quad. Just whatever you feel like you should be riding. I can't really tell you exactly or anything, because I have no idea of your skill or experience with different bikes/quads. But before you do anything I'd say try out a race bike.

i had 2 dirtbikes, now i have 3 atv's i like to stop and sit in the middle of a trail and take in some scenery, you can't do that on db's
and you can't have as much fun with a passanger on a db as you can on an atv
just keep that in mind

Hey NJ,
How much seat time do you have on a quad?
Come to Croom this Monday afternoon and we can swap bikes for a little bit in the sand pit. You can ride my 400EX, I can ride your CRF230. I don't think either of us could do any harm to our bikes out in the open. I've been riding street motorcycles for a few years now but never a dirt bike at Croom. Let me know.

Watch out dirtbikes in the sand can be alittle tricky. But with alittle practice its not a problem, just don't want ya takin off and getting some serious headshake lol.

i've riden my friends 250ex a lot. and I use to have a recon 250. I'm debating wether or not to get utility or sport. I cant go riding during the week but on the weekend i can. My bike is currently being fixed but when its fixed i'll come up to croom and go riding with you. I'll send you a pm as soon as i can. I love my crf 230 but I dont like keeping a bike for more then a few years because then you have to repair so many things.

One word. Mud.
My brother's been going on for ages about getting an ATV and now he can't decide between a sport or a ute. Anywho, I would never like to ride a dirtbike. Only way to have fun on them is if you go fast, which I don't really find too much fun in. Jumps are awesome though.
